Landscape. The landscape covers an area of approx. 285 x 175 m. The geometry of the landscape is based on a single parametric element. It was instanced in countless variations by exploiting the power of the parametric CATIA constructive solid geometry kernel. Class-A surfaces were created by sustaining C2 continuity throught the whole landscape.
Beneath the landscape there are three conference halls, the welcome lobby and a large parking area.

Tower. The tower accomodates the main administrative tasks of the OIC. The geometry of the tower facade resembles two ribbons, which are wound around it. The ribbons are materialized in 311 individually shaped tiles, made of anodized aluminium. To handle the complex geometry, a software was developed which allows to generate the geometry algorithmically. This allowed to easliy test the visual appearance of various modifications (such as the lateral dilation of facade elements, eventuality of buckling,...). Thereby, several geometrical constraints had to be considered (such as developability) .

A number of different facade materials were tested. Their physical interaction with light was measured by a specialized method. The interaction with natural light was then simulated by an unbiased, physically correct algorithm for several instants in time (see Fig. 3). In addition, a number of material properties (such as surface roughness, mesh type, application of bumps) were optimized for visual appearance.

The substructure of each aluminium tile consists of a steel tubular frame. Naturally, also the substructure was created on an algorithmic basis. The resulting models can be used directly for prefabrication of the facade parts.

To ensure an interesting visual appearance throughout the year, several natural lighting studies were carried out. They consider the physical reflection properties of the material as well as the local atmospheric properties (such as the planet albedo, ozone contents and aerosol properties) (see Fig. 4).

So far the ugliest structure in Jeddah has been the OIC HQ. Also poorly maintained in a display of the reality of OIC itself. This development under the Turkish SG is refreshing news.

Looks good. From where funding for this will come , single country or all member countries will share it ?
And where is current HQ ?

Average per capita income of a global Muslim remains at ~ $6,000 (PPP)....OIC better take revolutionary, well-thoughtout, and long term steps to make it ~ $24,000 in next decade, increase intra-OIC trade to trillions, and EDUCATE the Muslim countries with quality education that is designed for Muslims..not that which makes us suffer inferiority-complex vis-via-vis West...When all of these things, and others, are achieved..then OIC can have fancy headquarters..

Till then, it remains a useless organization with no benefit to us Muslims..

States contribute, though there is a financial institution as well.

70% of world's refugees are Muslims, we need action from OIC not just fancy buildings.

Without an economic backbone OIC won't have much leverage across the international playing field. Countries in the OIC should adopt a regional currency like the Euro, I think it will benefit many economies of OIC states. It can increase the purchasing power of many states.

No matter how strong the OIC members may be economically, it will never amount to anything significant for the simple reason it has no official mandate to rule, to make laws and implement them, to conduct foreign policy decisions, to 'create' trade and foreign affairs policy, to implement any military decision by the Muslim world.

Let's look at it another way. The GCC has a GDP far in excess of so called "Israel", yet the GCC has no capability to affect world affairs beyond the oil/gas markets.

The Muslim world can not let the 'ultimate decision makers' be some political leaders representing some country or the other. All Muslims must merge into one block, or else, be left further and further behind because the Kuffar will ignore the Muslims, and treat Muslims with contempt (incl. invading and killing Muslims) as they have shown repeatedly.

70% of world's refugees are Muslims, we need action from OIC not just fancy buildings.

70% from Muslim majority countries.

That merely tells us that since 2001, the most violence afflicted regions of the world have been Muslim majority countries - only due to one country. Uproot that non-Muslim country from the planet, and the Muslims would have found the collective cure to most of their problems including this refugee issue.

OIC has no political power, no foreign policy, no monetary and fiscal policy, no military - so any 'feel good' volunteer organization can only be as good as the volunteers' extent of goodwill.

To make OIC more effective, national boundaries have to be erased. This can only happen with closer Muslim to Muslim interaction around the world, and eventual merger based on the principles of Islamic Shariah.

Any other 'suggestion' or 'solution' is just a waste of time. They have been tried repeatedly, all of them fail.

Muslims must develop their own 'Muslim world military', not some military beholden to some corrupt political party, fat king, unelected junta or whatever. Military decisions have to be made by politicians, and thus, Muslims must learn to be more politically mature, more astute.

A joint Muslim political task force is required.

OIC is toothless & more weak than Nations League before WWII.
Some our economic expert suggest that muslim countries should one currency but how????
One Islamic nation has per capita income of develop world & other than have under developworld.

You forgot to ask which Country is going to Fund Chai & Bisciuts

Even after all these years OIC remains a toothless bloc and a simple way to massage political ego that's all.

1- Why it cannot be an economic power

A- Because Muslim countries are not as export oriented as western blocs such as EU. For manufacturing, you need massive technology and the ability to research. And to research, you need an open mind, devoid of obstructive religious dogma. Which can only come if people are willing to do so.

Also, economic integration at that level would be impossible as wealthy nations like Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi and UAE would not want to part away with their hard earned money to give it to those countries who don't work to be efficient countries or who don't even have proper governments.

The disparity in Europe is not as severe as it is among Muslim nations. Leave GCC, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei apart; that puts around 35+ Islamic countries in dire state that either don't have an economy or don't have a functional government.

Whatever is being rebuilt is done through staunch US puppets.

So think about it.

2- Why it cannot be a military power

A- Because Muslim nations don't use weapons of their own significantly as compared to others. Only Indonesia, Malaysia and Turkey have significant defence building capabilities and all the three countries are not Islamic despite being Muslim majority. All three follow a system of civil governance. Only Pakistan makes good amount of indigenous weapons but not platforms that are entirely Pakistani made.

UAE and Saudi are gradually coming up in indigenous production of weapons, but getting a total localization will take quite some time because to manufacture weapons you need one of the two conditions:

a- either a massive budget to constantly fill defence coffers and ensure continued innovation

b- or a war-based economy like USA where their economy works only with conducting wars around the world.

Another significant factor is that OIC as a military bloc would never dare to militarily oppose any of the current dominant powers, which would be catastrophic.
