These are used ships and PN should have gone for newer vessels.

Have they been given approval by USA government or not

FFG-42, 45 and 49. Are there substantial re-equips planned? Will this make 9 total Perry-class for PN, or have some been retired? How different will these be from the previously transferred ships?

On the US side, the last of the Perry-class will be retired next year. I think the USN are down to less than 10 left at this point (out of 71 constructed, 51 for the USN).

These were tough little ships in the 80s and 90s, but were worn-out and not deemed cost-effective to upgrade to modern capabilities by the 2000s. The missile launchers on the last few were removed, a 25mm cannon installed in place. They are a bit slow too, being originally envisioned for convoy defense duties (so they didn't have to keep up with a CBG).

So, how exactly they are being refurbished will be the $65million dollar question.

And you think that Pak Navy did not know it and therefore are foolishly taklng ship known top be something out dated and did not had them refurbished to their specs before buying them

Well there are always plan to "equip" the ships as needed

@Horus @fatman17 What you guys have to say about it ? And do you even confirm this ?

Good deal for the Pakistani Navy ! These are excellent all-round ships !

I guess there are certain conditions to be met before ship deal.

congress has put conditions on the supply of these ships. PK can not meet these conditions. anyway these ships if they are ever supplied to PN will be stripped of all US weapons and systems. basically PN will get the hulls and then upgrade them to its specifications (US80mx3=240m). PNS Alamgir (Perry class) is basically a 'training' vessel at this point in time.

So basically they are complete waste of money and time
