Myanmar in Photos/News

Can you tell me about the majestic Bagaan? Is that heavily affected by the earthquake?

And, about Inlay Lake ... how is there biodiversity and leg fishing?
Yes.. it was shaken by 6.8 m earthquake..
but wonderfully most damaged parts are newly added parts of the temples and pagodas just in last decade.. good things from the bads are UNESCO was not recognized as haritage due to these new additions on the hundard years-old pagodas.. Now UNESCO will reconsider to recognized as WORLD HARITAGE after restoration according to their guildlines and support with fund and tech..

here is about Bagan..

Bagan is our heart , our soul , culture and all memories of our last kingdoms..
we will maintain it to last as mush as it can..
plus Bagan is one of the most important part of our tourism sector.. and earning million dollar from it..

here is short note of Inle Lake

Inle Lake is the second largest lake in Myanmar with an estimated surface area of 44.9 square miles (116 km2), and one of the highest at an elevation of 2,900 feet (880 m). During the dry season, the average water depth is 7 feet (2.1 m), with the deepest point being 12 feet (3.7 m)..

Although the lake is not large, it contains a number of endemic species. Over twenty species of snails and nine species of fish are found nowhere else in the world. Some of these, like the silver-blue scaleless Sawbwa barb, the crossbanded dwarf danio, and the Lake Inle danio, are of minor commercial importance for the aquarium trade. It hosts approximately 20,000 brown and black head migratory seagulls in November, December and January

In June 2015, it became Myanmar's first designated place of World Network of Biosphere Reserves.[2] It was one of 20 places added at at the Unesco's 27th Man and the Biosphere (MAB) International Coordinating Council (ICC) meeting.

Fishing with leg is Inle's very own unique style.. it used to to catch fish in this way hundrad years ago..

I always hear from my Burmese friends to avoid Yangon and go countrysides instead.

Yangon is exactly not a place for relaxation.. countryside will help to relieve from ur stress.. like any other countries..

For both area, my humble request is to preserve those places value to everything anyhow. Inle lake's Dwarf danio fish is one of my favourite fish species. Specially their hide and seek nature all the time in an aquarium. Would love to see their natural habitat at inlay as well.
