न्यूयार्क। टाइम पत्रिका ने प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी को "पर्सन ऑफ द ईयर" के दावेदारों की सूची में शामिल किया है। सूची में दुनिया भर के 50 नेता, कारोबारी व मनोरंजन क्षेत्र की हस्तियां शुमार हैं। "पर्सन ऑफ द ईयर" का ऎलान 8 दिसंबर को होगा।

सूची में ऎसी हस्तियों को शामिल किया गया, जिन्होंने बीते साल अच्छे या बुरे के तौर पर खबरों और हमारे जीवन को प्रभावित किया। पत्रिका ने मोदी को एक समय का विवादित क्षेत्रीय नेता करार देते लिखा कि वे भाजपा को आर्थिक विकास के मुद्दे पर भारी चुनावी जीत दिलाने के बाद प्रधानमंत्री बने।

टाइम ने अपने पाठकों से कहा कि वे उस व्यक्ति के लिए वोट करें, जिनके बारे में वे सोचते हैं कि उसे पर्सन ऑफ द ईयर का खिताब मिलना चाहिए। पाठकों की पसंद के बारे में अगले महीने घोषणा की जाएगी और टाइम के संपादक 50 दावेदारों में से व्यक्ति का चुनाव करेंगे।

मोदी को अब तक 3.8 फीसदी मत मिले हैं, जो रूसी राष्ट्रपति ब्लादिमीर पुतिन, नोबेल की शांति पुरस्कार विजेता मलाला यूसुफजई तथा इबोला का उपचार कर रहे चिकित्सकों एवं नर्स के बाद सबसे ज्यादा वोट पाने वाले व्यक्तिव हैं।

New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is among 50 global leaders, business chiefs and pop icons named as contenders by Time magazine for its annual 'Person of the Year' honour.

The Time 'Person of the Year 2014' will be announced next month and the publication said the title will be "bestowed to those who have, for good or for ill, most influenced the news and our lives in the past year".

Describing Modi as "once a controversial regional leader", Time said he became India's prime minister after leading his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a "landslide electoral victory on a platform of economic development".

Other contenders for the top honour include Russian President Vladimir Putin, teenage Pakistani Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai and Ebola doctors and nurses.
