Modern theme park to be set up in city: Shahbaz
LAHORE, Feb 03 (AP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Monday said that a modern theme park would be set up for the provision of international standard recreational facilities in the provincial metropolis. Talking to a representative delegation of various Turk companies here, he said that national economy could be strengthened by promoting tourist activities.

Welcoming offer of cooperation by Turk company Via Land for the theme park project, he said that Punjab government wants to benefit from the experience and expertise of Turk company Via Land in the establishment of the theme park.
He said that a feasibility plan of the theme park will be prepared with the cooperation of Via Land Company, adding Punjab government is taking effective steps for the promotion of tourism and uplift of tourist spots.

Shahbaz said that there is a great potential in tourism sector in the province. He said that setting up of theme park will result in promotion of economic and trade activities.
Punjab government is working on a number of projects in collaboration with various Turk companies, he said adding trade relations between Pakistan and Turkey will strengthen as a result of collaboration of Punjab government and Turk companies.
General Manager Via Land, Tolga Alisoglu said that his company will extend cooperation to Punjab government for theme park project.

He said that world standard feasibility plan for the theme park will be submitted within 45 days. He said that his company will be pleased to work with Punjab government.
The delegation included Director Construction of Gursoy Group Mustafa Karaty and General Manager Turkish Airlines, Alp Yavuzeser. Provincial Minister for Tourism Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman Lahore Transport Company Kh. Ahmed Hasaan, Chairman Planning & Development, Commissioner Lahore Division, DG LDA and concerned officials were present on the occasion.

I can't believe that an experienced member like you is posting such irrational comments.

This park is going to be built with private investment and not public investment so Sharif is not spending anything. Secondly, these projects help monetize land and promote development in the region. If this park is ever built(most prolly not) I think it will be a good investment and will pay back as most of Pakistan's middle class lives in Lahore and Karachi.

Just like India there are many issues in Pakistan. India got it's first international standard theme park only in 2013. Private investors shy away from building these parks because of unstable environment in our countries and high saving middle class.

Many parks open up in India but close down within few month because they are economically unviable. Hopefully this park is built and this international standard park is gona be something new to Pakistani public. Hopefully it survives.

I am supporter of SS, and as a supporter i think SS need to change his tactis. Infrastructure, such small projects will not help him in next election. He need to work on theme cities like IT Cities, Industry City, Technology City etc. Also, instead of working for such small projects, he should try to implement a system, which does the work and give the people of Pakistan the hope for future and survival.

Because if Gov is spending from its pockets, I BEG THEM TO GET OUT OF LAHORE PLEASE, Punjab is stretched way beyond the borders of Lahore City.

According to IMF conditions we are to sell all crown corporations cause we are bleeding with subsidies and all then please tell me how opening up more government enterprises will be good for pakistan.

Amusement parks through out the civilized world are owned by private companies profit or loss isn't government problem. Governments simply collect entertainment and sales taxes plus income taxes without giving any subsidy.
