On May 1st, 1983, four Israeli F-15D Eagles and four A-4N Skyhawks were conducting an air combat exercise when one of the Skyhawks collided in mid air with an Eagle, completely removing the F-15's starboard wing. Incredibly, the pilot and instructor managed to land the Eagle safely. A while later, the F-15 was fitted with a new wing and returned to service. The Skyhawk was completely destroyed, but its pilot managed to eject and survived.
