May 4: Mamata Banerjee today accused Narendra Modi of inflaming the situation in Assam’s Bodo areas, where violence has claimed 31 lives since Thursday, and threatened to approach the Election Commission.

“While campaigning in Assam, he has inflamed the situation. I will lodge a complaint against him with the Election Commission. Why should he not be arrested?” she told a rally in Krishnagar, not naming Modi but identifying him as the BJP prime ministerial candidate.

Earlier in the day, Mamata wrote on her Facebook page: “Certain comments of some political parties including the aspirant of High office are adding fuel. Their language must be controlled and they should not play politics with fire where innocent lives are involved.”

Modi has been referring to Bangladeshi infiltration in his speeches in Bengal and Assam — where he last spoke on April 19 — even suggesting that rhinos were being killed at the Kaziranga National Park to create room for infiltrators.

Today, too, Modi referred to Bangladeshi immigrants at his rally in Asansol.

“There are two types of immigrants — one, refugees who have been chased out: these are sons and daughters of Bharat Mata, do Durga Puja and speak Bengali,” he said. “The others are those who come here to add to the ruling party’s vote bank.”

Mamata referred to the Assam violence at her rally in Ranaghat, saying “Bengal’s doors are open” for those fleeing the neighbouring state’s trouble-torn areas. “Those affected in Assam are welcome to my state. Bengal’s doors are open for them because we believe in hospitality.”

Mamata recalled how Bengal had given shelter to 2,000-odd people who had fled to Jalpaiguri during the 2012 violence in Assam’s Bodo areas.

On her Facebook page, she lambasted what she saw as the silence of the Centre and Assam’s Congress-led government whose ally, the Bodo People’s Front, is being accused of an ethnic cleansing campaign aimed at re-engineering the voting population.

Bengal BJP president Rahul Sinha said that Mamata’s demand for Modi’s arrest was an “irresponsible statement”.

We have a sticky thread for Indian election .

That's strange.

What's wrong with sending back illegal immigrants? Every country on Earth does it.

But you see each time someone does anything that impacts BD, posters here get ants in their pants.

The Govts in WB are complicit in allowing illegal immigrants into India & this includes the Communists too when they were in power ( for 25 + years). They allowed them in, settled them , gave them legit IDs - all for creating a bank of voters who would vote for them.

All of them have conveniently taken Hindu names and attempt to mingle with locals trying to pass as Bengalis.

This is creating a huge imbalance and has to stop. Thats why you see the BSF being active and BD posters resenting it.

What Modi is suggesting is right.

Does Mamata have anything to do with this:

Assam govt mulls arming Muslims in Bodo areas

Or are they two separate things?

Two separate states. But she supports jihadi terrorism and is an open preacher of it. Her real name is Mumtaz and not Mamta as she is well known. Her sympathies have always been towards illegal Bangladeshi muslims who are not a part of our land. It is somewhat similar to your jihadi problem with Uyighurs.

That's strange.

Muslim vote bank in India is a problem. They come in, attack riot, pillage and plunder. And convert the local villages under threats of slaughter. Not ot mention they bring their families along later and become a votebank for bloody politicians. A downside of democracy.

Why do you think they are so scared of Modi? Because he is like your Xi Jinping. He won't take nonsense and will throw them back to where they came from.

I'm wondering whether there will be an unexpected result in WB. Mamata Bannerjee has created a serious communal split in WB with her open pandering to the minority. The resentment is extraordinarily sharp & the blowback will be substantial. I would be wary of going purely by opinion polls alone, there is a broad veil of fear of the TMC goons. The left were nuts but atleast they were equal opportunity nuts not overtly favouring one community over the other. Mamata Bannerjee (along with fellow jokers in U.P. & Bihar) being called secular is why many are preferring to be called "communal". I think there is a distinct possibility of the BJP doing better than expected.
From “chupchap fule chhap (quietly choose the flower - TMC slogan)” to the newly added second line "shudhu chhotor jaigai boro ful "(only, rather than the small flower, it is the big flower)

Many of those who supported her to remove CPM are now hiding their faces and desperately denying that they ever supported her, if the opposition can consolidate their votes and organize well, then she will be shown the door in next assembly election, this parliament election will show a glimpse of things to come even with a fractured opposition.
