i was surprised by this giant baby Makassar-class landing platform dock info . its damn 8400 tons tons can carry 4 helicopters and up to 40 infantry vehicles 218 troops and so 518 persons.and damn $37.5 million just 38 millions wow less then a F-16 why not PN got 4 of them man :what:. at least they can buy 2 for strength and load some better helicopters on them :undecided:. well 37 millions mean as they buy few of their VVIP jets recently :) its not a big deal if they buy them from Daewoo Shipbuilding.

We dont need them...these platforms are used for power projection and to move troops in a remote territory.

We don't need this stuff, we dont have any plans for power projection.

Carry hovercraft and chopper to where? And what justifies a LPD for basic patrolling duty, given the kind of logistics and resources it'd need, compared to a patrol boat.

Pakistan does not have any islands to protect nor any blue water navy ambitions. These things are not useful and way too expensive for the PN.

carry choppers all the time in sea and use for any work rescue anti ship anti submarines anti smuggling anti piracy and daily patrol works same as hovercrafts for search and rescue patrolling and much more carry logistics for PN frigates and other fleet dear . its that much bad in 38 millions$ ? really ? then why other navies have such as Indonesia Peru Thailand ETC ?

how on earth its expensive for pn they buy billion$ frigates just 4 and spend millions on even old ships paid millions$ for VIP jets still this cheap baby is expensive? i think even Somalia can buy 4 of them in 150 mil$

Put emphasis on the anti-submarine part, does it carry any sensor to detect submarine? Like powerful Sonar or magnetic anomaly detector. Or is it agile enough compared to a frigate to be deployed in anti-piracy or anti-smuggling operation?

But yes, for logistic support, $37 million is a decent price.

This is French Foudre class LPD, priced at $80 million.

Well, first thing to know is; Pakistan doesn't need a powerful navy, or any kinda Amphibious Assault Ship. While PN's main strategy is defending the coastlines of Pakistan. Even if you brothers really need that thing: to be honest, 8,000 tonnes is a joke for an LPD/LHD/LSD. The "useful" or "advanced" AAS's start with 30,000 tonnes. If PN will really buy one, I hope that it won't be these types of ships that are equal to DDG's. :)

Not needed, PN needs, offensive capability to be increased. More subs, frigates, covretts even long range maritime strike jets will do the needed trick.

Its not only about the ships themselves, infrastructure, training, onboard equipment like helos and landingcrafts etc and most importantly escort ships since such ships will certainly not sail alone.

And most importantly, it does not make sense to go for such ships if you dont have islands to protect or blue water ambitions.

PS: I hope that Somalia thing was a gag.

Why dont you guys look out for the chinese Type 071 amphibious transport dock ? Its a good platform and always available for you guys..

I dont know what use PN will have for these vessels..But a cheaper option will be to buy a Ro-Ro ferry from scrapyard and convert it...
Can be done in around 10 million

i know dear but a 38 million$ ship need more 100mn$ for all this ? no its need few more .

Just doesn't seem to fit with the PN's defensive nature. LPDs are generally offensive platforms used for power projection and expeditionary warfare not coastal protection/patrolling. These sort of ships also require significant support elements like tankers/replenishment ships as well as requiring other naval vessels for protection. The PN doesn't have the support assets or the assets to support and protect such an asset and certainly multiple LPDs.

As PN doesnot have sufficient budget then its better for PN to do JV with Chinese or Turksih over the development of two types of Tankers:
1. 15600 Tons(for which we have bought the design Rights)
2. 21000 Tons
3. STUS
4. Tugs
5. Different Size and Kinds of Patrol boats
6. Different Size and Kinds of Hover Crafts may be just two types small and medium.
