Lower Testosterone Levels In Early Humans Led To Modern Civilized Human Societies

(Photo : Current Anthropology) According to a new study, modern civilization has decreasing levels of testosterone to thank.

According to scientists, while modern humans evolved approximately 200,000 years ago - they only began to use tools and create art around 50,000 years ago.

But researchers from the Duke University have tried to solve the mystery of this massive gap in the history of human civilization, writes Wall Street OTC.

Researchers found that is was femininity - not masculinity - that laid the foundations for modern civilization.

And while we may be living in a patriarchal world - it was the dropping levels of testosterone that catalyzed human prosperity, writes Wall Street OTC.

Lead author Robert Cieri, a University of Utah biology graduate working as a senior at the Duke University, said in a statement, 'The modern human behaviors of technological innovation, that led to art and rapid cultural exchange, probably came at the same time that we developed a more cooperative temperament.'

The team of researchers further said that the lower levels of testosterone in humans made them more civilized, leading to the creation of civilized societies.

To get the results, the researchers carried a study involving analysis of 1,400 ancient and modern skulls.

While studying the human skulls, the researchers discovered a connection between low testosterone levels and growing civilization.

But researchers are still unsure whether humans had lower testosterone levels in their body or had fewer receptors for the hormone.

According to the researchers, they studied the human skull because the changes in their temperament can be understood from the changing facial structure. The reducing hormones in male led to softer facial features including less prominent brows and rounder heads, writes Wall Street OTC.

'If we're seeing a process that leads to these changes in other animals, it might help explain who we are and how we got to be this way,' Brian Hare said in a press release.

The findings of the study were published in the journal Current Anthropology.

interesting,,,,,
civilization has a lot to do with the frontal lobe..it argues reason with instinct.

I heard in another documentary , that our evolution was result of more "Protien" Rich Diet which enabled our brains to evolve shifting away from a vegan diet

I heard in another documentary , that our evolution was result of more "Protien" Rich Diet which enabled our brains to evolve shifting away from a vegan diet

evolvement of brain has other factors...other than diet...but evidence suggests we have shrunk in size..i'm not sure if that was proven..

anyway..

Well the exact point was raised in the documentary was

a) All mamales have brains and these processing units have tremendous need for energy
b) Most mammales , run around all day to strugle for find food and meet the needs of the brain (processing unit)

Scientist pointed out , that what differentiated humans from even the early evolving pre humans were that humans developed and used basic tools which allowed them to hunt , and hunting and ability to eat from 2 rich food sources allowed us to provide more "energy" needed by our brains to start evolving

1 ) Fruit , Vegetables , Green items
2) Abundance of animals that roamed the world back then not to mention fish

When we had this abundance of food , the brain started to evolve infact, its not clear what causes the shrinking of the volume of the brian however our brains are capable of processing more data which is why we became "evolved". Also we became the animals that stored the food as well developed new techniques to store it for long time etc

The director argued that comparitively when we see primates like Gorilla or other animals they are only eating most of time vegetables so they have to spend like 80-90% of their day searching , every next day that they wake up , the search for food continues. These animals have constant need for searching for food so they do not evolve as their time is spent to meet the minimum needs for their survival

To test their theory , they hypothesised that lets assume that the date when humans started to use tools was when they were "hunting" animals and that the usage of tools was a good sign of inteligence......

So they showed some expeditions to dig some old areas where humans left traces of animal bone and old traces of fire and they would search for sample of tools and they did showed some examples of finding such examples and then carbon dated the tools to discover the time period

Most estimates state that around 20,000 year ago humans changed from being just animals that did thing s out of instinct , to perhaps humans who used tools and their brains to acomplish goals.

This is all no-sense and proves nothing; typical of scientific jargon. If it was protein that made the difference then why carnivores such as big cats not developed into more intelligent beings? and if it was less protein then why herbivores such as Elephants are among the dumbest animals? and if it was about the balanced diet, why omnivores such as birds, and fishes did not evolve into more intelligent animals?

The point was , unlike big cats we have 2 food sources however in while big cats are always short of food infact if you review some documentaries on their lives they have to compete for food between hyenas and other animals so they don't get to eat that often as you may imagine

The point was unlike elephants , we eat protine
The point was unlike most animals we used tools to kill more animals and thus eat more in abundance

Why inteliggence traces are not found in lets say fish ?

Well they focused on Mamales , as they are more closer to showing signs of intelligence
example Gorillas , Chimps , Perhaps even Dolphins ...

Most of them do not use tools

The way human and proto-human extract and processing their food has something to do with the evolution of human brain. The protein we can get and digest is much easier than the protein the cats get from they raw meats. We are cooking our diet, using tools and cooperate with others in the tribes to hunting the games, trying to solve the problems by innovative means has led a complex and serious advancement in human brains. The facts we are always stimulating and using our brains at another whole level is what made human always evolve especially in their brain capacity.

This is incorrect assertion. It is only in this century that plenty of food is available to Humans and that too only in certain places and to certain socio-economic groups. If the theory 'more food = intelligence' was correct, than we should have seen a surge in the IQ of children belonging to well-to-do families. However, what we see is taller and bulkier statures (and of-course obesity), but no increase in IQ. Non-human primates are not relatively intelligent because they get to eat more food than the big cats. In fact, I have not seen one credible publication that highlighted the role of food in improving learning skills. I have worked in Yerkes National Primate Center for 5 years as a post-doc, if there was such a report, I would have surely seen it, or heard about it from my seniors.

As far as protein is concerned, except for a few amino acids, almost all amino acids can be obtained from the plant proteins (legumes). However, what sets apart animal protein from plant proteins is the concentration of the protein in each source. Meat is extraordinarily rich in proteins (and as a result energy) whereas plants are not. Cooking or no cooking has more to do with the adaptability of the digestive system than anything else. You can feed your pet dog with the raw meat or with processed dog food, it is not going make him anymore intelligent or dumb. That is correct however, that relatively more energy can be extracted from the cooked food compared to raw one. However, exactly how more energy would result into more intelligence could not be shown until today.

Intelligence is a complex process, and cant be defined or explained by the increase or decrease of a single macromolecule.

i have to agree. look at the example of blacks and east asians. one has high testosterone, the other it low. the difference is for all to see. i do believe however that the Caucasoid and their derivative races has the right levels, the perfect balance of strength/aggression and docility/work ethic

East Africans developed complex culture 3,000 years ago. And Khoi-San people have one the lowest testosterone levels.

yes it is true East African civilization is among the first to utilize steel as their tools and their civilization is quite fascinating. And must be noted too, East Asian peoples has a tendency to do a horrible genocide campaign once they are going to war since ancient times

Haha, I am half East African (Hebesha/Eritrean) and Asian. I like both cultures, we are not subhumans that many racist try to protery them.
