Oh its not just Kargil. We are extremely thankful to the Pakistani Army for for gifting us half of Jammu & Kashmir in 1948 and our 14 day victory in East Pakistan in 1971, made possible only thanks to their 'awesome' activities there.

Yeah you should be thankful that we took 40 % of kashmir and not the whole, you are forgetting the weeping of your leaders in UN for cease fire and agreeing to Kashmir resolution immediately...:coffee:

Hi,

Kargil was a major success for pakistan---. It told the world---with minimum capabilities a dedicated military force can take on a massive power in a hostile environment and hold it back for awhile and let the political powers do their thing---. In this case---the political power houses were 'chicken'.

It also showed pakistan---that if the military was better equipped in upto date weapons systems---india could not have done much other than go to a full fledged war---.

This should have been an eye opener for pakistanis and they should have focused on strengthening their short-comings---like the air force and surface to air counter measures---.

But instead of focussing in the right direction and thinking like israel after the 73 war---pakistanis started blaming each other---.

These young indian kids and retd indian army people can come and say whatever---but the thrashing that the indian mililitary got at the hands of such an ill-eqipped endeavour was a joke amongst the world militaries---.

The weaknesses of the indian army and its might were blown open---in the middle of the skirmish---indian army ran out of 155mm shells---.

Pakistanis---if they had any brains---would have looked at it this way---if with such minimal resources---we held off indian military for so many days---what would have happened if our resources would have been ten folds---.

Sir, not just that.......i always say Pakistan Armed forces are an army of lions led by sheep. I mean, General Mahmud Ahmed, the thick headed egoistic Bast**D went to the PAF chief to see if PAF could provided CAPs around Kargil.

The PAF chief Parvaiz Mehdi Qureshi, knew the handicap of PAF due to the embargo on F-16s, and was constantly worried about the start of war with respect to IAF. The air chief also conveyed his concern to General Mahmud Ahmed, that what about the high altitude bombing, because PAF knew IAF possessed laser bombs.

General Mahmud not having a clue, said "Oh don't worry about that, i will place SAMs on each hilltop.' Not really a good strategy, considering the man portable SAMs were pretty useless against high altitude and fast striking bombers.

Only if Pakistan had been able to deploy a high-altitude SAM in the region to provide cover to it's infantry and artillery, Kargil would have been a goner for India, regardless of what the world thought.

This brings us back to, why are the armed forces officers so rigid in their mentality? Probably the curriculum at the academies needs to be changed for 21st century warfare.

Source?

By the extension of above logic, since in 1971 120 Indian soldiers with a recoiless rifle were able to hold off against 2400 Pakistani troops with tanks and Armoured carriers with losses of just 2 soldiers, Imagine how much they could achieve with 1.1 million troops in 2012

Of course, you won't see Indians gloating above.

The question here is end result.

BLAH BLAH....

SEE THIS

Battle of Longewala: Truth must be told

Major General (retd), Atma Singh Hansara, told Hindustan Times in an interview, “I dispute the ground battle completely. It is mockery of army ethos. No ground battle was fought and the army had merely rehearsed it on a sand model after the ceasefire to cover up the incompetence of senior military commanders.”

Air marshal, MS Bawa, who was directly involved in the war, also agrees with Hansara. He says, “This is a challenge. There was no contact between the enemy and the army.” He further said that the Pakistani thrust was blunted entirely by air action alone.

The Battle of Hussaniwala was the real battle which happened on ground, in which Indians got their rears handed to them.
Afterwards, true to the indian army traditions, they cooked up the story of Longewala

You did cook that number, this oft repeated number is a big lie,
In support of this number you Indians post the stamp issued by Pakistan Post office in the aftermath of 71 , which is also a lie since the PPP government led by ZA Bhutto saw the war of 71 as an opportunity to humiliate the army hence they issued the stamp, which was not factual at all.

We let the poor lost kids go home, last time we shot down that Atlantique we had to bear Pakistanis wails for too long, we give them a short leash like big brother :)

However, this is way more interesting, also to the clueless Mecenary guy above, please strive to read more-

It was very generous of you to take only 40% of Kashmir. Now please be happy with what you have and don't ask for more.

first----Pakistan did not fight the Indian army to occupy the peaks......you went there without any resistance when we pulled back for the winter.......

when you at the top of a peak you are always at an advantage.......but you guys still were not able to hold that advantage .....dont tell that you had less supplies....you didnt have supplies because they were cut off of your supply depots were bombed by the IAF...that is war...

your army men were being bombed in Kargil and during that time where was your famed PAF? they were saving the F16s for later? only in Pakistan the military saves its war planes and lets it people die......even in earlier wars your PAF would do the first strikes and then go into hiding to save your planes (during that time ,when IAF attacks and gets shot down by ground fire....you guys say PAF has less aircraft loss hence i is a better force.....lol...you have less aircraft loss because for your PAF ,your aircraft is more important then the WAR itself)

by the way .......have you guys decided on what to call those uniformed Pakistani people who fought and died for you? if so can you please tell us if you call them as terrorists or the Pakistani army? or is it that you guys dont find any difference?

so what was the actual figure ???

Hi,

Sir,
this is the problem. The David and Goliath dynamics till independence that a small number of troops can achieve the highest military success has always haunted your army. It gives you satisfaction.Pakistan never failed to drain out all its resources for Kashmir cause.
What did you achieve after all these mess? New geographical realignment? International recognition? A big hell NO. At the cost of lives of some NLI soldiers, diplomatic hammering from allies and a back thrust to the peace building process, these are what we remember today.

Hi,
Kargil was a major success for pakistan---. It told the world---with minimum capabilities a dedicated military force can take on a massive power in a hostile environment and hold it back for awhile.

On the contrary , it told that world that Pakistan is an irresponsible nation hell-bent on ill-planned military adventures time and again , never learning from its mistakes.

It told the world that Pakistan disowns & leaves behinds its own soldiers to die on the battlefield.

It told the world that Pakistan's military can perform an overnight coup to hide its strategic and miltary failures.

It told the world that Pakistan's civilian leadership is in complete disarry & distrust with its relationship with the military.

It told the world that Pakistan Army does not endorse any peace deal with India ( AB Vajpayee brought everyone hope & faith with his courage , but alas , not to be ....) and is not be trusted , ever.

Kargil war planned by Pak army senior officer and was fought by junior office and jawan. They were thrown into enemy territory and were later disowned them. Dead body of soldiers died were dumped to their home in night to avoid embrassement. No enquiry was ordered for those senior officers who are responsible for 4000 death in this.

Guys 13 years are over after the war.

Why are we talking about this even now?

The objective for us was to retain the Tiger Hill which we did. Mission complete.

When the country has to disown their men of uniform and label them as rag tag terrorist then you know the reality of conflict was quite an embarrassment. The general who led the men to this trap was never bought to any kind of justice while abandoned men fought without supplies until they met their final fate.

Irony is that the same general had more supporters in india than in pakistan towards the end of presidential stint.....
