Japan to hold naval drills involving U.S. warships in East China Sea on Monday

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force will hold drills in the East China Sea involving U.S. warships on Monday, the Japanese Defense Ministry said.

The USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), a U.S. Navy Nimitz class supercarrier capable of carrying 90 fighter jets and helicopters, and U.S. destroyers will participate in the exercises, to be held to the west of the Kyushu island, the ministry said.

Japan's NHK TV channel has said the drills are aimed at deterring possible naval operations by North Korea and China.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula remain high following the shelling of South Korea's Yeonpyeong Island by the North in November, which killed four people.

In December, Seoul held large-scale military drills involving hundreds of military personnel and more than 100 types of weapons, including tanks, anti-tank missiles, helicopters and fighter jets. North Korea then warned its opponent of a possible "holy war" using its nuclear deterrent.

Earlier in January, Pyongyang proposed Seoul to start "unconditional and early" talks to repair strained relations between the countries.

I feel sorry for Japan. If they were smart they would kick the US out of their country and stop being the United States lap dog because they are essentially being dragged on leash to their death.

United States is practically at it limit of power and that's not even enough to influence China that much.

And Japan, aside from most the most technically advanced country (or so I've heard) is not that powerful. Their reputation comes from WW2 when they invaded China and much of Asia but only possible because of one thing; their modern military. Today everyone has tanks and fighter aircrafts and machine guns etc so Japan won't be so lucky anymore.

China on the other hand, has been developing their military against the current #1 power (US) and catching up fast, if not already in the same field. With the latest and most advance hardware capabilities and add that to the tens to hundreds of millions that can be called into battle during a crisis would make any enemy's stomach turn.

Doing these drills that close to China are nothing but provocative in nature. When a war really do break out Japan would be hit hard and likely to surrender without a fight. But the real war would not be against Japan.

Yes i'm done now.
