Italian priest says Europe will become an Islamic state

Growing number of Muslim migrants in Europe and increasing secularism will lead to Islam becoming the continent's foremost religion, Daily Mail quoted Italian Archbishop Monsignor Liberati as saying on Saturday.

Criticizing Italy’s policy towards migrants, the senior Catholic leader said: “In 10 years we will all be Muslims because of our stupidity. Italy and Europe live in a pagan and atheist way, they make laws that go against God and they have traditions that are proper of paganism”.

Citing official statistics, the newspaper said number of Muslims residing in Italy has reached two million.

German Chancellor Angeal Markel has also faced strong criticism from far rights group's for launching policies of welcoming refugees affected by war in Syria.

A few points:
  • EUROPE as a whole is 75.18 % Christian, 5.9% Muslim and 18.2% unaffiliated.
  • In many countries where the share of Catholics is low, the share of either 'other, christian' or 'unaffiliated is high
  • There are very few countries with high % muslims in Europe, or a % that is higher than either Christian or Unaffiliated (and if so, this has traditionally been the case, it is not the effect of the current influx from the Middle East and Africa)
  • Unaffiliatedness is (or should be) probably a greater concern for the Catholic church.

Italy doesn't even allow construction of new mosques besides handful of Mosques that were built ages ago.

Travel anywhere in Italy and you will not find a Mosque. Whatever Muslims you have over there can't be practicing for the same reason and living side by side with the community as part of their community minus religion factor so no sure how Islam will takeover
Interesting.

But even this says " The laws do not specifically limit the building of mosques, but opponents have claimed the new piece of legislation unfairly targets Muslims living in the peninsula." Also, it claims "Although Islam is the second biggest religion in the country, it does not have official status and there are only four official mosques."

Yet, here https://www.yelp.com/search?cflt=mosques&find_loc=Roma
I find that there are more than 10 mosques in Rome alone.

Sir the law is so complicated that it doesn't allow building new mosques under the carpet. For example the population of Muslims in Italy is around 1.8 million if I am not wrong and with such population UK had allowed over 1200 Mosques back then. Now the number of Mosques in UK is well beyond 1700. The number of Mosques are still not sufficient to fulfil the requirement of Muslims but there is complete freedom if the Muslims do wish to build more mosques.

In Italy the planning permission will be rejected for one reason or another and many states it is forbidden to build new Mosques. If you go to Milan, besides 1 or 2 mosques that is not sufficient to meet needs of 1% Muslim community, Muslims gather in the park with permission from the local council and offer Friday prayer. I heard from my cousin that about 1500-2000 easily gather in the park due to lack of such facility. If the Mosque was there, they could have prayed 5 times a day if they wish to and there wouldn't have been any need to offer Friday prayer in the park

Sir most of such places would be places of prayer. There is a difference between Mosques and may be 1 room left in the office building where Muslims could go and pray. It happens in many countries... its technically not a Mosque but if for example a Muslim owns a building somewhere and he has rented 50 rooms.. sometimes he would spare one room and leave it open for individuals to come and offer prayer.

There is no doubt there is a large Mosque in Rome which in my opiniom is quite surprising as Rome is quite a religious city and you get to see nuns and religious people in every train but besides that Mosque in Rome, there are hardly any official mosques in Italy
