It's a long article so I'm not gonna post it in its entirety. But it seems that even without US support, Israel is adamantly gonna press ahead.

There are times when countries diverge in terms of interests. US has to get its present war complete before it presses on for another one. Israel on the other hand has to worry about its immediate neighborhood and hence is taking the step.

Don't know for sure; but it sure seems to have enough influence without USA as well.
