Iraq DoD placed additional orders for China's UAV, this time it is CH-5.

Iraq's previous experience with CH-4 is very good, according them, CH-4 have conducted 100+ strike missions with 200+ attacks and 95% hit accuracy, this is better than the much more expensive US-made UAV's 90% hit accuracy.

CH-4 is a smaller UAV, with roughly 30 hours' cruise time and 200 kg payload.

CH-5 is a much upgraded UAV, with 60 hours' cruise time and 900kg payload.

Both CH-4/5 are entire built for exportation purpose.

The performance of CH-4 is also one key reason Iraq DoD placed another $2.5 billion order to China for VT-4 tanks and HQ-9 SAM last year.

That's great.

New CH-4 strike, though that required an F-16 to drop a GBU-10.

Selling the CH-4 to iraq resulted in many more customers for china given that it proved itself in battle (from the many vid releases), when CH-5 proves itself that'll benefit China again as well.

how many F16 did Iraq buy and receive? I know there was a huge debacle where the US played its usual political delaying tactic in delivering equipment

Bought 36, 14 delivered so far, one crashed in Arizona during a night training mission. Delivery got delayed in 2014 when Balad air base was endangered by isis.

wow 900kg payload. Is there any other UAV that exceeds this? I checked janes article and it was carry 16 missiles. That is very impressive.

Edit- Seems the reaper can carry 1400kg payload.

Satellite needed for longer range usage though so that strikes can be conducted alongside the Syrian border, and possibly in Syria where isis is.

14 is simply not enough for the campaign against these isis mofo's! no wonder CH5 is being pursued and good choice.

CH-5 is the answer to PA CAS needs especially anti-tank warfare.

Data link it with Z-10 so that the Z-10 WSO also controls CH-5 making both Gunship and UCAV a deadly missile raining combo. Where the CH-5 lacks, the Z-10 flies in and covers up.
