Inside the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter

Joint Strike Fighter: High-tech deadly eye in the sky

The BBC has been given exclusive access to film the world's most advanced fighter jet - the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, built by Lockheed Martin for the US and UK military.

Britain had planned to buy around 150 aircraft for the RAF and Royal Navy - but with each plane costing at least £70m that number is likely to fall.

Although it looks like most other modern jet fighters, what makes the F-35 stand out is its software and intelligence-gathering capabilities.

Dr Jon Waldrop of Lockheed Martin told Jonathan Beale about the electronics that make such a difference to the JSF.

So F 35 is better than F 22 Raptor. well around 150 will cost UK around trillions man why EF is not good enough but yes UK has to replace Harrier Jump jets.

Canada will acquire these in 2016 and the technology is superior to F-22 though lower tier level partners are not able to access all the sensitive material.

What do you mean by Lower Tier Canada is a level 3 partner if i am not mistaken any lower would be security partners. Also is Canada going to be a international supplier of parts ?

first known image of all three F-35 variants in the same frame. That's the conventional take-off and landing (CTOL) F-35A in the foreground, the short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) F-35B on the left and the carrier variant (CV) F-35C in the background.
