Indigenously-built F22P Frigate Commissioned

Only 8 SAM's with a range of 20km.
It will be a sitting duck whe attacked by aircraft or missiles.

But Even 30 km Barak sam is not enough ... According to my opinion jets tend to detect sea targets at over 100km so Ships are anyway not safe.

Karachi, Apr 17 2013: An impressive ceremony on the event of commissioning of 4th F-22P ship PNS ASLAT, indigenously built at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Ltd was held today. Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila, Chief of the Naval Staff, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The ceremony was attended by high ranking officials/dignitaries from China and Pakistan including HE Ambassador of Peoples Republic of China, Vice President China State Shipbuilding Corporation. (CSSC).

The commissioning of PNS ASLAT and its handing over to Pakistan Navy’s Fleet culminates the historic contract signed in 2005 for construction of three F-22P ships in China and transfer of technology for indigenous construction of fourth ship at Karachi Shipyard. The timely and successful delivery of all ships including the indigenously built 4th ship, speaks volumes of cooperation and commitment of CSTC/HZ Shipyard, Karachi Shipyard and Naval Headquarters.

PNS ASLAT is fitted with state of the art weapons and sensors, which make it a highly potent platform capable to operate under multi threat environment. Inclusion of this unit in Pakistan Navy’s Destroyer Squadron shall further strengthen and augment its capabilities to defend the sea frontiers.

Chief Guest congratulated all those who participated in this project, especially, workers and management of KS&EW and Chinese Engineers/Technicians for their support, cooperation and untiring efforts. Construction of PNS ASLAT has certainly enhanced capabilities of Karachi Shipyard in the indigenous construction of warships, not only for Pakistan Navy but for other navies of the region. Construction of warship and other platforms like Fast Attack Craft (Missile), Small Tanker cum Utility Ships, Tugs etc at Karachi Shipyard reflects indigenization policy of the government especially attaining self-reliance in defence capabilities.

MASHA ALLAH all of this is possible only and only by the Grace of Almighty ALLAH. And we hope that they are going to make a 3rd Ship Yard there and will upgrade the whole facility and include R&D facilities there further... Ameen. INSHA ALLAH.

A step forward for PAK ship building and defence industry. PAK should focus on heavy industry and ship building as these things give rise to many high tech spin off industries. They should now try to design a frigate of corvette indigenously within a realistic feasible time frame. Indigenizations always reaps fruit in the long run no matter how bothersome and costly in the short term.

Impressive. it lacks a potent and long range SAM though. I hope next ones will have upgraded SAM.

What percentage is of Pakistani origin and what parts?

Indigenously-built F22P? By this benchmark even su 30 mkis are indias indegenous product and so will be rafeals.

 Great Step Congrats :pakistan: :china: More pics and vid'z will be appreciated! And is there any deal goona make on Qing subs n 54b frigates :what:???

It's a great step forward simply small steps lead to big ones it's not majic to have things over night credit needs to be given period however, more bigger class and stronger ships need to be made to handle evil when close to bay PN has a long way to go and it's finally doing so ..never the less good job PN & GOD bless Pakistan.

F-22P frigates are equipped with a single 76.2mm main gun, eight C-802/CSS-N-8 sub-sonic Saccade anti-ship missiles, an eight-round FM-90 surface-to-air missile (SAM) and two hangar-top type 730B 30mm close-in weapon system (CIWS) units. They also feature RDC-32 anti-submarine rockets, two triple ET-52C torpedo tubes, state-of-the-art homing weapon systems and depth charges.
"Powered by its four main diesel engines, the F-22P frigate can accommodate about 200 personnel."

The main gun was developed in China and is based on the Russian AK-176M. The Chinese variant contains a redesigned stealth turret to reduce radar cross-section. The gun can engage other ships and aircraft and defend against anti-ship missiles.

The anti-ship C-802 subsonic surface-to-surface missiles are carried in two containers with four cells each, installed between the main deck and the hangar. The two containers can also carry CY series anti-submarine rockets and be loaded with anti-ship and anti-submarine weapons.

The FM-90N SAM system is installed between the main deck and main gun. The system has eight cells containing one missile each. The system is set up on a mount that can be lifted in the direction of the threat. The FM-90N can engage different targets by using different guidance modes. These targets can even include supersonic and sub-sonic sea-skimming missiles. The system is also designed to engage small targets such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).

The 730B CIWS is fitted on the aircraft hangar and contains two seven-barrel Gatling guns of 30mm calibre. The CIWS employs type 347G radar and an OFC-3 electro-optic director. It can also be equipped with the FL-3000N fire-and-forget missile system by fitting up to two single-round FL-3000N launchers on each CIWS gun mount.

Not bad weapons system. I am sure it can do some damage to our enemies.

8 years for 4 Ships. As contract was signed in 2005. I was thinking that , delays happen in India only.
