India sends home to Pak two men who helped hijack IC-814 to Kandahar

Attari border:

Among the 28 Pakistanis repatriated to their country via the Attari-Wagah border today were two men who had served time in Indian jails for doing their bit to aid the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines flight IC-814 to Kandahar.

Haji Iqbal Ahmad and Mohammad Asif were in jail for eight years in Maharashtra for aiding a bank robbery in Mumbai to generate funds for the hijacking of IC-814.

“Whatever we did, we have been punished for it. I am happy that I have been finally released and can go home,” said Iqbal Ahmad, adding that his years in Indian jails were “memorable”. He said his jail term had ended long ago but he could not go home because Pakistani authorities had not completed verification formalities.

They were escorted to the border by Maharashtra police constables. They had completed their jail terms in February 2008. “Since then, we had been living at the Borivli police station,” said Iqbal Ahmad

In other words; India had no proof.8 Years for hijacking is a joke so most likely the judge gave punishment just for face saving measure. These guys probably committed some robbery in India and got mixed up with Hijackers but it's good that India didn't put these people in jail for whole life.

Appeasement tactics of our weakling of a central government.

LOL!!! read the bolded part once again.. they had been sentenced with 8 yrs term... But its very pathetic from GOI view. It was a crime against a nation and they got only eight years of prison..

Any other country on this earth would have hanged these two for aiding such a heinous crime and our Indian Governemnt - Go home boys. :hitwall:

Considering its 14 years for murder, 8 year is (un)just.

And u see that in crystal ball??????

Grow up, it shows that India is a democracy with judicial system. And as these people have completed their jail terms they are released.

We are not hate mongers who cut of their private parts, ear and nose and kill them just because of hate.

A country have done it in the past to few of soldiers.

This is the amazing just and righteous government we have. It won't fail to beat the cr@p out of a poor pickpocket but will let these terrorists go because of favouring appeasement tactics.

Such news made me lose even the little bit respect I had for Congress after the Afzal Guru and Ajmal Kasab case. Pathetic enemy-appeasing losers/

You want to curse some one, curse the law makers, not Congress. What can Congress do, if the limit of imprisonment is decided by law.

Remember your Kashmir singh and our Khalid mehmood??

these ppl were charged by the investigating authorities under those sections of Indian penal code and other Acts which have less punishment there may be many reasons for it therefore judiciary has taken action on the basis of material produced beore it .
but i agree with you tht this is a crime against nation and there must be capital punishment in cases where anyone go against Union of India and its citizens, even it may be a miner crime against a nation
now the time has come when the government must amend the laws of british period accorting to the present threats and circumstances.
Again i will admit that nothing will be changed by amending new law until our law implementing bodies will not properly implement these laws therefore these law implementing bodies must have strict liability because Mumbai 26/11 is a example that it was a failure of these law implementing bodies as they were already provided enough information earlier but they didnt taken preventive measures.

So if it is the decision of the judiciary of your democratic state. Why don't you and your brothers accept and give respect to it. Why you guys are arguing about it and cursing your DEMOCRATIC govt. They just worked according to Indian law so stop BSing about it.

It is very easy to flame isn't it.

Bro, the ruling government is responsible for the national security, national representation at an international stage and economic development of the country. Laws can be amended owing to the will of politicians.

The law for POTA was modified by Congress and replaced by another fancy-on-name-not-so-effective MCOCA. How did they manage to change the law then?

You see laws can be changed easily with the will of the government. So yes whether it is Congress or BJP, the ruling government is to be blamed.

Sir actually I think there is no need to justify to anyone what we did to these two.

First if they are Pakistanis what they were doing in India.?

And even then IPC applies only to Indians and not to Pakistanis.

Thirdly tell me if the same thing happened to an Indian (caught fro aiding a hijack case) what will you do to them.?
