Is this one of the reasons why we've ordered Derby AAM for Tejas?
Are Derby AAM and R77 comparable??
Edit-Any other sources (MoD Press releases preferentially)?
These sources have many grammatical errors in their article!

India is also planning to replace R77 by indigenous Astra AAM with range of 80-110 Km , starting 2013
This missile has completed most of its required tests and is currently being prepared to be launched from MKI , which could happen either in November this yr or early next yr

why would u take ukraine ?help i could nt understand:blink: Are they more advanced than russians?

may be that is the reason there is delay in it's induction:drag:

Israel does not have any plan for long range BVRAAM ...May be India and Israel should join hands on a such missile..

Actually Russians have developed a new seeker for R77 missile and that my guess is will go into ASTRA
U might also know that till now every test of ASTRA have been successful

R-77 (missile) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
well i also know all test have been successful apart from 1 ,check the link posted by jon snow
& also india is planning to build it's own seeker ,i dont know exactly whether a new seeker for R77 missile will go into ASTRA,yes the indians r planning ramjet version of ASTRA ,it might take help from meteor i think

sure why not, but israel may get AIM 120 d ramjet version from US in F35 jets .

if these news is true then we should ask Russia to make R 77 fault free

or replace it with ASTRA or any other missile

There is a a lot of flaws with russian stuff recently..how many plane crash have they had recently..
u may be referring to mig 21 crashes happening in IAF ..... but see mig 21 was like su 30 in its era.... but problem here is we are still using this after its expiry date and with inefficient spare parts.... nothing to do with flaws in russian design
