Abdul Rauf, a man suspected to be involved in the hijack of the then Indian Airlines flight IC-814 in 1999, has been detained in Chile, according to news agency PTI.

The CBI will send a team to verify and question Rauf, PTI adds.

On December 24, 1999, India Airlines' IC-814 - en route from Kathmandu to New Delhi - was hijacked hours after it took off.
