Inventor says it is capable of flying much higher

anadian inventor Catalin Alexandre Duru has broken the Guinness World Record for the farthest journey by hoverboard.

Engineers have worked tirelessly on perfecting magnetic field-based systems to achieve a small amount of lift, but Catalin soared over Lake Ouareau metres over the water. How? He stood on a drone.

The Canadian flew 905 feet and 2 inches on his hoverboard, more than five times longer than the previous record

Not only can his device hover low a la Marty McFly, it can also soar pretty high.

"The prototype can be used anywhere, but is usually tested over water because of how dangerously high it can fly (which is ironic considering that the [Back To The Future] movie joked that it can't)."
Catalin said following the successful flight.

His propeller-based hoverboard is still only in the working prototype stages, and there is no word yet on whether he plans to sell these human-carrying drones.
