DRDO’s Two 155mm/52cal ATAGS Howitzer Prototypes Spotted looking different to each other.

DRDO developed Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) was caught preparing for Republic Day parade where it will be showcased to the world for the first time. DRDO has transferred Two ATAGS Howitzer Prototypes especially for the Republic Day parade but when placed next to each other, it is hard not to find that there are striking dissimilarities between the two Prototypes. DRDO to cut delays had started parallel development of ATAGS Howitzer Prototypes, one Prototype of ATAGS was developed by Tata Power (SED) and another by Kalyani Group and both were independently tested. Kalyani Group developed ATAGS Howitzer Prototype in next picture is spotted with Elbit System developed Autoloader, which was first seen on Kalyani Group developed Bharat-52 artillery Gun showcased last year for the first time in DefExpo 2016 Exhibition held in Goa. ATAGS is featuring 95kW Auxiliary power unit (APU), which gives the gun a top speed of 12 km/h. The different design used to house APU unit is the only difference both Prototypes carry. it is still unclear if a different design has been used on purpose to distinguish between Primary contractors of the Gun where it is developed.
