ISLAMABAD: Denmark’s Trade and Development Minister Mogens Jensen expressed there was great potential for increasing trade between Pakistan and Denmark.
Jensen said, “Pakistan demands knowledge, technology and innovative solutions in sectors such as energy, water, health, food products and agriculture”.
These are areas where Danish companies have particularly strong competences. Increased cooperation can lead to sustainable development in Pakistan as well as growth and jobs in Denmark.
The minister’s statement came in response to seven Pakistanis companies delegations visit to Denmark last week. During a week long road-trip, the Pakistani companies visited several leading Danish companies in areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and water technology. They were introduced to Danish technology and discussed potential business opportunities.
The Director of EMR Consult Farhat Ali took part of the delegation. On his return to Pakistan he said the visit was extremely fruitful and relevant. We held very promising discussions with some of the leading Danish wind energy companies. Denmark is a frontrunner in renewable energy, so it has indeed been a valuable experience to witness on ground the excellent progress and technology offered by Danish companies. We will now pursue the possibilities of working together by offering competitive and technology driven solutions to customers with a blend of offshore supplies and services with local value addition.
Ms Fiza Farhan Director of Buksh Energy Pvt Limited participated in the trip. She said it could be a revolutionary step for Pakistan to adopt the renewable energy solutions offered by Danish companies.
She encouraged other countries to get inspiration from the way Denmark had organised this trip with the aim to further bilateral trade relations between our countries.
The delegation visit was arranged by the Danish Embassy in Islamabad and sponsored through Danida Business Instruments, which is a new business facility available to Pakistan through the government of Denmark.
The Danida Business Instruments is part of the Danish development aid and aims to transfer Danish technology and knowledge to developing countries through commercial activities and partnerships.
