Comparsion between Eastern Ukraine and Northern Ireland

My take is this. Northern Ireland is ethnically English, so stayed with Britain after Ireland became independent. Ireland is ethnically Irish. Likewise, Eastern Ukraine is ethnically Russian, so should be part of Russia not part of Ukraine. What's your take?

Northern Irelanders are Protestant, different from Irelanders who are Catholic. Eastern Ukrainians speak Russian and adhere to Russian Orthodoxy, different from Ukrainians who speak Ukrainian and adhere to Ukrainian Orthodoxy and Catholicism.
