Well fighters are all designed from the research of the German designs. The Germans had already made research in every find of wing planform that we can even think about. The cropped delta is the latest in the series...earliear it was delta canards. Cranked delta is kind of a cropped delta lessening the sweep in the leading edge wing root thus giving the delta to tap the vortices formed by the reduced sweep of the forward edge. This can be controlled by using LEVCONS (movable LERX), this vortex formation was first identified in the F 18 high AoA test conducted in the late 90s.

These tests proved the capability of the vortices formed and tapped by the F 18B in 1989. Thus leading to the modern Super Hornet.

Long nose has nothing to do with aerodynamic stablity . The dual seat Mirage has come in shapes and sizes, all depending upon the users requirments.

Take a look at the pics below. It might clear the things for you.

Basically our Mirage DPs are based on Mirage 5 hence longer nose.

i might be wrong,sir, but i read in the atlas cheetah modifications, that the angle of attack and turn rate was improved at the expense of speed -- due to nose modifications??
