Chinese Y12 airplanes in Pakistan

BEIJING: Pakistan has imported light aircraft from a manufacturer in northeast China’s Heilongjiang province to meet its domestic needs.

The 19-seat Y12 series planes are twin-engine, general-purpose monoplanes designed and developed by the Harbin Aviation Industry (Group) Ltd (HAI), based in China’s Heilongjiang provincial capital Harbin. Company sources said the aircraft would be mainly used for troop transport and emergency rescue operations. By the end of 2005, the HAI had sold more than 100 such aircraft to 20 countries and regions, such as Pakistan, Nepal, Peru, Zambia, Tanzania and Namibia.

China-made aircraft are gaining popularity abroad and in developing countries. Last Friday, China delivered two domestically manufactured Xinzhou-60 passenger planes developed by the Xi’an Aircraft Company, to Laos and the Republic of Congo, the first such sales to the two countries. sana

Y-12 Aircraft is operating with PAF since 1996 with only first and second line maintenance facilities. Facility for overhaul after 4000 hrs was not available in Pakistan therefore they had to be sent to China. PAF tasked PAC to undertake the overhaul of two Y-12 aircraft which was successfully completed in December 2004.

perhaps a suitable repalcement of older Cesna Planes thatwe have been operating for long!!
i mean even if these four are not Replacement, they may be seeked as an option when required!

Cessna? We phased them out a long time back.

For basic training we use the Mushshak (Army Aviation). As for the Y-12, It's used as a utility aircraft.
