BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to visit India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the coming weeks and his programme is being coordinated with the governments of the three countries.

While Chinese officials maintain that dates are being finalised, Pakistan daily Dawn today reported that Xi will be visiting the country later this month to lay foundation stone for some mega projects.

However officials say that it could be some time next month as dates are being worked out in coordination with the three countries. It may be that Xi will travel to Pakistan, go to India and later Sri Lanka, according to indications.

In the recent past, Chinese leaders, including Premier Li Keqiang last year visited India first before travelling to Pakistan, a close ally of China.

This will be Xi's first visit to the subcontinent after taking over as president. Li visited New Delhi last year making it his first destination abroad after taking over office to show the importance the new Chinese leadership attached to ties with India.

Xi's visit to New Delhi figured prominently in the Chinese President's first meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the BRICS summit in Brazil last month.

Xi will be the first Chinese President to visit Sri Lanka, which in recent years has become a significant ally for Beijing in the Indian Ocean region specially in the backdrop of China's plans to
o build a 'Maritime Silk Road' for which it has also invited India to take part.

The Dawn report quoted Foreign Ministry officials as saying that during his visit to Pakistan, Xi would lay the foundation stone of the Lahore-Karachi motorway section and a couple of power generation projects.

During Xi's visit officials of the two countries would also give final touches to the proposed Pakistan-China railway link. The countries are finalising plans to build an Economic Corridor between China's Xinjiang and Pakistan's Gwadar Port which is being developed by Chinese firms.

China has announced USD 32 billion to be invested in next seven years in various Pakistani projects for infrastructure building and power, the Dawn said.

A strong relationship with all three South Asian Nations by China is a good development in the area.

We don't really care if the premier of PRC goes to India first or Pakistan. Our relationship with China is mature therefore there's no need for any alarm if Chinese Premier visits India first.

We should be looking for tangible cooperation with PRC in order to complete our mega projects in due time.

Thats a bogus Marxist bull, Indians always seek refuge in. Indian trade with China is 10X higher than PakChina trade, yet your foreign relations are bordering on hostility or oughtright enemity.

US-Indian trade is manifolds bigger than PakUs trade, yet India has NEVER been able to dictate US policy towards Pakistan.

India-Arab trade is higher than PakArab trade, yet Arab world would always back Pakistan against India on all fronts.

India has had historic alliance with Russia, yet failed to block the RD-93 engines and Mi-35E assault helis being sold to Pakistan, despite crying like an 18 year old virgin.

Your theory is bogus, please keep it to your dinner table, will fill up your stomach!

you mad bro, engines, bullets, knives had been also been traded among enemy states all the times. Apparently Chinese and Indians are not the ones shooting at each others. While you boast of your deeper than ocean and higher Shanghai skyscraper friend to come for your rescue. Those Arabs had never stepped in a ring to rescue you, in fact they look down upon you. Everyone is out for themselves no one has the time for your ummah.

I get sick to my stomach seeing the Palestinians being grinder in between by your own so called ummah brothers and infidels.

We never needed rescue, we've fought for thousands of years and have developed a culture to defend ourselves. The 'ummah' fully backed Pakistan in all wars in whatever capacity we required them to. They also financed our weapons programs and continue to do so.

On all levels your theory is bogus!

It shows level of maturity, we move forward even with disputes, we never fire at each other borders even with disputes

you forget, U are an strategic asset to the US, India has always conveyed it side to the US, rest it is upto them
AFAIK, we gain what we need to gain, nuclear deal being the major front runner

When have they ever backed you? apart from OIC, which i think is a self cheering up organization none of the Arabs have ever backed u

Infact we have more influence over the middle east than pakistan, we have relationship with israel, iran and saudi and face no problems

thats what nations do. Don't you remember how pakistan was crying rivers when US offered India ABM's ? Nuclear deal ?
Pakistan was similarly upset when China agreed to back India's permanent UN seat
China supports India's bid for UNSC seat: Wen

Hence my dear friend Money talks.

Right, foreign policies work in a different way. For example:

In spite of having a mountain-ocean relationship, China never came to help Pakistan in any of the wars it fought with India, even when Pakistan faced a decisive defeat in 1971. In fact, China condemned Pakistan's Kargil act against India.

US refused to intervene in Kashmir issue or stood by Pakistan on this, even after Pakistan; should I say "Surrendered" some of its sovereignty to US.

Similarly, Arab world never helped Pakistan in any of the wars it fought with India, neither they helped Pakistan in any way for Kashmir other than providing some lip service even when they themselves are Muslim nations.
