China ready to sign friendship treaties with all neighbours: Xi Jinping

BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping today said that China stands ready to sign treaties of friendship and cooperation with all its neighbours to provide strong support for the development of bilateral relations as well as prosperity and stability in the region.

Treaties of friendship have been signed with eight neighbouring countries and Beijing is holding discussions with ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations), Xi said addressing the China sponsored Boao Forum for Asia annual conference held in the country's southern island of Hainan.

"China stands ready to sign such a treaty with all its neighbours and to provide strong support for the bilateral relations as well as prosperity and stability in the region," he said.

Referring to an old Chinese proverb 'Close neighbours are better than distant relatives', Xi said that China is working actively to develop win-win cooperation with neighbours.

Is this the start of the end of the US Alliance system of security ?

Strange isn't it? China creates a bank, the US dominance is over (even though the more nations that join it, the less control any one party will have over its operation and the more transparent the bank will be). China says it is willing to sign friendship treaties, the US alliance system is over... except that China already has friendship treaties with eight of its neighbors including one with Japan.

Did this spell the end of the US in Japan or the US-Japanese alliance? Nope, and recent events have made our cooperation stronger, despite an existing friendship treaty,

World politics will march on as usual, irrespective of the views of people on the internet. In Europe, despite the talk about Europeans and the AIIB, The US alliance system is getting stronger thanks to Russian belligerence. In the Asia-Pacific we are making good with Vietnam and Myanmar, strengthening our cooperation with our traditional allies and being welcomed into the Philippines again, Malaysia too.

A new bank attracting our friends wont end our alliance system, it will dilute China's power over the bank (everyone likes money, not everyone like influence). A few friendship treaties wont end our alliance system, Japan can answer that for us.

Such hyperbole these days:disagree:.

No one in Asia really likes the United States and the US doesn't really like any Asians. Vietnam and Myanmar are still wary of the US, and the Philippines has already seen its first rape-murder case by an American serviceman. Malaysia definitely likes China more than the US.

China doesn't seek to dismantle the American alliance system as it would fall apart against China anyway.

Great post. The more ridiculing and mocking the US members get, the better they sound like. So, sit back and enjoy the scene :)

This, along with others, may have a serious dent in that alliance system. China's recent moves have been detrimental to the US policy of securitization and militarization of the region's internal politics. That, thanks to a series of effective initiatives over the years, has been constantly undermined.

No wonder, the region is war-free over the past few decades despite of a number of US provocations. That's great.

The more the region moves toward peace and cooperation, the less relevant the US gets in the region.

China knows this. And the US knows China knows this.

Let's all take a step back from personal insults, rather, let us appreciate the manifestation(s) of globalization. And here we are , at the crossroads , with former colonialists joining hands with former colonies in the march of economic development. I love the ebb and flow of human development, national progression, and regional - intra-regional cooperation.

Here's to continued collaboration of all parties !

If China already has signed such treaty with Japan then its pretty simple to interpret how much importance it gives to such treaties! thats why it is said, never trust China!

Friendship treaties with all neighbours doesn't mean at China's expense. China is offering a peace environment so all can prosper and achieve a win-win, we dont war and we're not afraid of war.
