Army Chief General Raheel Sharif said on Friday that Pakistan and China’s enemy are the same. He said that any conspiracy against China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will be crushed completely, reported Dunya News.


Talking at the ceremony of 88th anniversary of People’s Liberation Army, General Raheel Sharif said that Pak-China friendship is sweeter than honey and higher than the peaks of Himalayas.

General Raheel said that Pakistan and China have the same enemy adding that in this hour of strife Pak-China friendship will thrive even more.

RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Friday said that Pakistan and China have a common enemy.


Lauding the services of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at the occasion of the 88th anniversary of the PLA, the army chief said the people of China rendered great sacrifices for their country.


“Pak Army and PLA form edifice of our strategic relations. Together we can defeat the nefarious designs of the enemy,” he said adding, “PLA is one of the best armies.”


The army chief said that Pakistan and China enjoyed strong cordial relations, adding that “our friendship will grow stronger in these testing times”.


- China-Pakistan Economic Corridor -


Commenting on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the army chief said the project would benefit the entire region, adding that the corridor was being developed at full speed.


“I reiterate our resolve that any attempt to obstruct or impede this project will be thwarted at all costs,” he noted. The army chief said that the economic corridor project would maximise dividends of geo-strategic locations.

ISLAMABAD - Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Friday reiterated his resolve to thwart any attempt to obstruct or impede the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The army chief was addressing a gathering held to commemorate the 88th anniversary of the founding of Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

An ISPR statement said that Army Chief General Raheel Sharif congratulated the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China on its 88th anniversary as one of the world’s best armies.
He also commended the deep ties between Pakistan and China.

“The recent strides in our relationship, especially regarding the holistic concept of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, speak volumes about the constructive engagement that we seek with each other.
There is no doubt that actualisation of this concept will see both the nations progressing even further and maximising the dividend of our geo-strategic location as well as our time-tested friendship,” he said.

“I am satisfied with the pace of work already in full gear as I have personally visited the sites.
I am sure it will be completed within the stipulated time,” he averred.

“Apart from this, the regional stability efforts of both our countries, especially seen in the context of Afghanistan, will have lasting effects on the region.
Our efforts are likely to squeeze the space for the state and non-state actors who intend seeing a destabilised and inimical Afghanistan.
We are satisfied with the rounds of talks held so far and we hope that a positive outcome would help bring stability in the region,” he observed.
“With singleness of purpose, we will definitely defeat the nefarious designs of forces detrimental to us,” he was sure.
“PLA stands today as one of the best armies of the world and we are proud to be your brothers in arms,” he remarked.

He said, “Your enemy is our enemy and our cooperation with China in eliminating East Turkistan Independence Movement (ETIM) is a manifestation of our resolve,” the army chief said.

He congratulated Chinese people and their army for offering sacrifices in pursuing dreams.
He said, “This occasion also brings to the fore tremendous sacrifices made by the brave people of China in pursuing their dreams through a united and unyielding struggle which has certainly set a glorious precedent to follow,” he said.

“It goes without saying, how deep and resolute are the relations between Pakistan and China.
China-Pakistan all-weather friendship and all-round cooperation is based on trust and mutual support, and we have been devoted friends through both good and hard times,” the army chief stated.

“Our cultural lineage goes way back in history and that is why we are able to have a better understanding of each other’s perspective.
We have a shared destiny and a common vision which bond us together.
We have always been standing together in adversity and our relations in these testing times will be no different,” he averred.

He said, “Pakistan Army and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) form edifice of our strategic relations.

Yes history tells us the USSR was on Chinese borders and supporting India at that time. Today Russia is moving away from India and closer to China.
