DECEMBER 29, 2016 / LEAVE A COMMENT
Bhooli hui hon dastan – is a song by Ahmed Rushdi from film “Doraha” directed by Pervaiz Malik. This song Bhooli hui hon dastan (story forgotten) reminds the golden days of cinemas and it fits much to the situation of single screen cinemas of today.

There was a time when pakistani films whether urdu, punjabi or pushto ruled the cinemas with huge profitable business. Main cinemas were lined up offering choices to cinema visitors and films lovers to see films of their favorite genre whether action, romance, social etc. catering the interests of all.

The song Bhooli hui hon dastan today shouting and loudly singing the sad story of single screen cinemas in 1990s and 2000s.

With the advent of VCR and later cable system, the cinemas of Pakistan faced a huge downfall. The film makers of Pakistan film industry also could not coup up with the change and did not offered substantial films that could have forced the families to visit cinemas. The experienced and well learned directors and producers specially opted out of film business since non serious people had started taking over this very serious business.

The cinema owners also could not advanced their cinemas due to fluctuated business which deteriorated the situation to worse. Some of the cinemas started showing pushto films and some strived by showing X rated films.

There were some good cinemas that not only stood against all odds but also introduced latest advanced technology with new trends in cinemas like Nishat and Capri cinemas to name few in Karachi.

Whenever, this song Bhooli hui hon dastan is played around it reconnects to golden days of cinemas when seeing good movies with families were a retreat. To add more information, this song Bhooli hui hon dastan was also sung by singer Mala.
