Bhoja Air Flight crashes on final approach to Islamabad Airport.

such a terrible, tragic story......such a needless and un-neccesary accident that could have been avoided...should have been

heads must roll......somebody MUST be held accountable here.

Abou what is the chance of terrorism?

This airport is in middle of houses. Any one can use bad weather as cover and hit the plane with any weapon!

So many accidents in short span of time!!!!!

Musharraf plane was also fired upon from the same houses!

While new Islamabad Airport was suppose to be completed in 2009 and present govt. deliberately delayed it. Govt. is complicit in destruction... one way or the other.

corporations only face limited liability when individuals employed by those corps. engage in any tort or crime that was not within the scope of duty

flying an aircraft with 130 people on board and making crucial mistakes and ignoring warnings from ATC would incur liability on the corporation.....Captain Afridi was an employee of Bhoja Air

Bhoja Air is liable to pay the victims' families for this major loss of precious life...there shouldnt even be any doubts on this fact.

Rawalpindi airport is not worthy of operation.
While Geographical location of both Lahore and Rawalpindi airports are wrong.
Rawalpindi airport shall be closed for low visibility operations.

Who will that someone be?

Someone from Bhoja Air for failing to keep check and playing with the lives of common man?

Someone from the Airport authority for failing to keep check on the company and aircraft and playing with the lives of common man?

Some one from the civial aviation authority for failing to keep check on the airport authority and playing with the lives of common man?

The minister incharge for civil aviation for failing to keep check on the civil aviation and playing with the lives of common man?

The convicted Prime Minister for failing to keep check on the minister and playing with the lives of common man?

The Parliamentarians for failing to keep a check on the Prime Minister and playing with the lives of common man?

And finally the Pshycho President for failing to keep a check on the govenment and playing with the lives of common man?

Who should the blame be placed upon?

one, two, or all of the above

(wishful thinking)

You can't have hope from a convict can you???

I dont know if somebody posted this video or not..But here is a video of same type of aircraft landing under similar situations...
As the Aitcraft slows down her engines to descend..It is hot by a thunder storm...The hails and rain accumulates in the engine and shuts down the engine.....The engine is built to withstand hail and water ingestion but below a certain speed the engine becomes prone to flame out if ingests above certain amount of water...Thats exactly what happens in this video..for a moment the conditions become just right for a flameout..
Then the pilots reignite the engine but the engine has accumulated fuel and it catches fire.....There is procedure for such mid flight engine start but that needs time so that the fuel get drained..But a descending plane did not get enough time..had to restart engines and engines caught fire..
Is that what happened with Bhoja air?

Dawn has learnt reliably that the Safety Investigation Board (SIB) has not met for the last two months because the investigation chief is undergoing medical treatment abroad while another board official now stands retired from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

On April 20, Bhoja Airlines’ Boeing 737 had crashed near Benazir Bhutto International Airport killing all the 127 passengers on board.

On April 22, the federal government through the Ministry of Defence had appointed Group Captain (retired) Mujahidul Islam as the head of the SIB, which also includes officials from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), PAF and a metrological expert.

“Mr Islam is on a medical leave as he is undergoing treatment for liver disease abroad,” said an official close to the development. “Besides Air Commodore Sardar Ilyas Khan, the PAF official who was assigned to give his technical input on the matter, is now retired.” There has been no meeting for last two months, said the official.

The official opined that even though the SIB works under the Ministry of Defence, ministry officials do not take an interest in its affairs such as replacing the retired PAF official.

When Dawn contacted SIB officials, they preferred to keep mum.

On the other hand, an official of the defence ministry claimed: “Yes, the SIB chief is on sick leave but it does not mean the investigation has halted. The SIB will submit its report to the Ministry of Defence very soon.”

He was unable to give a time-frame as to when the report would be submitted.

He added: “The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) is also part of the probe team and the SIB is waiting for its reply. All such reports are first accredited by the ICAO since SIB can’t file its investigation with the federal government without getting an input from aviation’s international regulatory body.”

It is pertinent to mention that PAF has recommended replacement for Commodore Ilyas Khan but the SIB head has been reluctant to entertain anyone else as “he [Commodore Ilyas] is the key technical official assisting the SIB on the air crash from day one.”

The defence ministry official clarified that even though Commodore Ilyas Khan had retired, he was still part of SIB and the ministry was trying its best to manage his position with the assistance of Civil Aviation Authority.

When asked as to why the SIB committee members had met only once, the defence ministry official replied: “The SIB is meeting intermittently and it will be unfair to claim that it is not meeting to probe the airline crash on a routine basis.”

Meanwhile, when Dawn approached the director general of the CAA, Nadeem Yousufzai, he claimed: “The committee is meeting but we are waiting for the feedback from American aviation experts. The probe report will soon be presented to the ministry.”

Mr Yousufzai insisted: “I cannot give you any answers about SIB since it is an independent body working under the defence ministry and not the CAA.

This was expected.

For how long will we keep on going with this non-serious attitude? The last report (airblue crash) was a 40 page comedy. Who writes a 40 page report on an air-crash?

There has to be a separation of CAA from the defense ministry, and make it an independent organization. The Safety board or the accident investigation teams can then be either under a independent CAA or independent themselves from other organisations. No meddling or any other thing.

Bhoja has reportedly contacted the families, trying to bribe them for dropping the cases against Bhoja!

Until the next crash. And then we pay attention for about two weeks. And then we sleep again. Until the next accident. Repeat.
