MINSK, Belarus – Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain held meetings with senior Belarusian officials and agreed to develop a plan of action for establishing military and technical cooperation between the two countries.

The Belarusian side has announced opening the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus to Pakistan on the September 1, 2014, as well as introduced the Pakistani side to the future extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan.

The Belarusian side has accepted the Pakistani side's invitation to take part in the 'IDEAS-2014' exhibition, and announced its intention to arrange a joint booth with the concerned companies of the defence sector of the Belarus.

The federal minister is currently attending the 7th International Exhibition of Arms and Military Machinery (MILEX-2014) being held here in Minsk to explore ways for developing bilateral cooperation.

Tanveer held meetings with Belarusian Foreign Affairs Minister Vladimir Makei, Defence Minister Yuri Zhadobin, State Military and Industrial Committee Chairman Sergei Gurulev, Alexey Shkadarevich besides meeting with Defence Initiatives Company Director Denis Pashchenko and Sergei Bufal.

All these were high-level meetings after which both sides announced their interest in establishing mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of defence production. Both sides agreed to develop a plan of action for establishing military and technical cooperation between the two countries.

The Pakistani side has invited Defence Minister Yuri Zhadobin to visit the 8th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar – IDEAS-2014 – to be held on December 14, 2014 in Karachi. The minister highlighted the strides Pakistan has made in the field of defence production and significantly talked about the ace aircraft JF-17 being manufactured in Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan was producing the best armament and heavy machinery. “Our APCs are of B6 protection and are also developing B7 protection vehicles,” he said. These are low cost and state of the art equipment and Pakistan is proud of such developments.

He said that Pakistan looks forward to exploring international markets and wants the world to support it in its endeavors. During the visit of the stalls at the exhibition, Tanveer expressed interest in Belarusian products i.e. electronic warfare means, optical and optical-electronic devices (particularly, night vision & thermal vision devices), spare parts for tanks and armored personnel carriers and explored areas of joint ventures.

A possibility to establish service centres and technical maintenance centres were also explored. Additional Secretary Raza Muhammad and Defence Attache of Pakistan Embassy to Russian Federation Shahid Mahmood Kayani also present there.

I Failed to understand WHY Belarusian Air Force did that...

* In December 2012, all 17 Su-27P and 4 Su-27UBM1 were withdrawn from service
 
@vostok it seems things are moving in the right direction as far as Pak-Russo co-operation is concern and EuroAsian Union!

Belorussia has developed heavy industry. Belarus, unlike Ukraine did not try to play in independence, so it has cheap energy from Russia and a market for its goods.
I'm glad about improving relations with Pakistan. Both you and we need stability on the Eurasian continent, and not wars and revolutions.

to me it appears the relationship with Belarus in defence sector is not the alternative of Ukraine, more interesting thing is that we are as of now are not using any Belarusian equipment but 'considering the possibility of Service & Maintenance Center.'

so any new induction is in pipeline .... i guess ..

These areas are the production and modernization of military equipment and control, communication and electromagnetic warfare systems. The document also provides for the joint work to create new radio-electronic military equipment and weapons and other special-purpose equipment as well as technologies to design and produce such products.

The document also stipulates the exchange of specialists to carry out defensive R&D work, develop and produce military equipment and also transfer technologies. The agreement includes the provisions that guarantee the safety of information that will be obtained in the course of such cooperation. Official and commercial secrets will be protected, too.
