BD, China review bilateral relations

Bangladesh and China reviewed the entire gamut of their bilateral relations at a Foreign Minister-level meeting in the capital on Sunday, reports the United News of Bangladesh.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali led the 19-member Bangladesh side while his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi the 13-member China team at the meeting.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam and Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque were present at the meeting that began at 10:40pm at the Foreign Ministry conference room.
Representatives from relevant ministries and Foreign Ministry officials also took part in the meeting.
Earlier in the morning, Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali welcomed the Chinese Foreign Minister.
Before the formal beginning of the bilateral meeting, the Chinese Foreign Minister visited a historical room located on the ground floor of the ministry named ‘Bangladesh Foreign Policy Genesis: A Pictorial Exhibition’.
At the meeting, both sides discussed the progress on the deals and MoUs signed between Bangladesh and China during Prime Minister’s Sheikh Hasina’s China visit.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said China expects follow-up actions on the agreed important issues with Bangladesh and mapping out commemorative activities to be held next year.
She said China also wants to extend bilateral cooperation in economy and trade, connectivity and people-to-people exchanges, and further boost China-Bangladesh relations.
Wang Yi will also meet President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today.
He will also have a meeting with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia during his stay in Dhaka.
