Taking the cue from India, Bangladesh has decided to fence its borders with Myanmar using barbed wires to prevent terrorist infiltration and smuggling of goods.

Additional Director General of Bangladesh Border Guards Md Habibul Karim told a press conference that the country is working on a project to fence 271 miles of its border with Myanmar using barbed wire.

“In one year, we have put up 17 new BOPs along the Myanmar border with Bangladesh and we expect to cover the rest of the area by December,” Karim told reporters in Agartala on the sidelines of the BSF-BGB commander-level talks that concluded on Wednesday.

The ADG, who led a 20-member delegation at the talks, said several issues on border management, especially coordination, cooperation and exchange of information, was discussed at the meeting.

Why did Bangladesh wait 2 years after we had already fenced the border to erect a fence?

Most Indian part of the border in CHT will be fenced as well.

There were kidnappings recently. Some deep jungle trekkers were kidnapped and killed recently by Burmese terrorist groups who tried to collect funds by criminal activities.

Please fence all of your border with India too from your side.

We are not a stupid bunch of fools to erect fence because it will not stop Indian illegal immigration since the untold number of rivers will remain open for these Indians to enter our soil.

More like you dont want to stop your illegals from getting through seeing how reliant they are on Indian wealth.

There are next to no Indian illegals in Bangladesh....and those that are there....are probably originally Bangladeshis to begin with themselves (squatters that have returned as described by @Roybot )

Indians that work in Bangladesh are high paid legal workers, businessmen and professionals given the lack of these in Bangladesh. Don't make me post the dailystar article again.

So I say again, Bangladesh should fence off completely wherever it can and potentially leave the rivers and border towns to dada to police with its ground zero fencing and strong patrols....if Bangladesh is too poor to do it on its side.

Out of all the Indians here Roybot knows Bangladesh better as he visited it recently and He knows a rickshaw puller can easily earn 20 thousand a month or how difficult it is to get a maid as most of them work in RMG factories.

The flood affected people were Bengali muslims and they have lived on other side of the fence since partition. In some place the border runs through kitchen or bedroom of such people.

If Being a bengali muslim makes them second class Indian and more Bangladeshi , then our claim on west Bengal is justified

But you have no way to enforce your "claim" that you have not even made officially (given that we own your leaders).

So it really doesn't matter much now does it?

End of story is that the border bengali muslims shift when there is a flooding in one area, across the border if need be for temporary refuge.....and there is only one member in this forum calling for them to all be gunned down....and he is from your country.....not ours (which took in millions of refugees from your country in 1971).

Yeah, fence it. We built 29 new BOP 's on the BD - Burma border. And work to build 39 more is underway. After the fortifications are done, we should just shoot at site of any funny business from the moggs.

And yeah,BGB should deploy more mortar artillery on this part. No funny business on the border.

and add some railguns , more BOP as well maybe.

These are both great suggestions but why are you so eager to shoot your fellow Bengalis and Muslim ummahs as they're the only ones trying to cross?

No one knows Myanmar has built fence along the border being such a poor country. If you have erected one, it is not working probably. This is why BD wants to erect a fence with international grade.

Oh really?
