Arabs Invasion
Arabs Invasion
During 636-37 A.D. during the reign of Caliph of Omar, Arabs launched naval expeditions to conquer western coast, but were repulsed at Thane near Trambay. Because of the failure of naval expeditions, they tried through land routes. In 644 A.D. their attempt through Makran coast failed. Finally, in 711 A.D., they succeeded under the leadership of Muhammed-bin-Qasim, deputy of the Arab Governor of Iraq.

Conquest of Syria, Palestine, Egypt and Persia, made them to think of more conquests. Dry lands under their rule could not give them much revenue, and they got attracted by the riches of India. And they also wanted to spread Islam.

However, the immediate cause for the Arab expedition against Sind was the plunder of Arab merchandise by the Sindhi pirates. As king Dahir of Sind failed to comply with the message of Al Hajjal, (the Viceroy of eastern provinces of the Khalifa) in punishing and reparating the loss due to Sindhi pirates, the latter send expeditions led by his deputy Mohammed-bin-Qasim against the former resulting the conquest of Sindh in 712 A.D.

Henceforth, Sindh continued to be under Muslim occupation. The Arabs could not penetrate further into India in the 8th century A.D. due to the presence of the formidable Pratihara Kingdom in Western India, and also due to the wrong choice of Sindh which could not provide them with the necessary resources to conquer India. From 871 A.D., Arab rulers ruled independently by breaking the control of Caliph.

Cultural Impact
  • Arab scholars started learning the ancient wisdom of Indians from Hindu pandits.
  • Several Sanskrit works on astronomy, astrology, mathematics, medicine philosophy and other branches of knowledge were translated into Arabic. Some of the Arab works were also translated into Sanskrit.
  • The Arabs learnt the figures from one to nine (Indian numerals), which Europeans learnt later from the Arabs as Arabic numerals.
  • The Arabs learnt the game of chess from the Hindus.
  • Hindu physicians were put incftarge of hospitals in Baghdad.
  • Islam became an important religion of the Sindh.

Invasions of Mohmud Ghazni
Mohmud of Ghazni invaded India 17 times. His motive was to plunder the riches of Indian temples. In 1026, he plundered the famous Somnath temple in Gujarat.

Invasions of Mohammad Ghori
Muizzuddin Mohammad-bin-Sam (Mohammed of Ghori) invaded India out of territorial ambitions. He first occuped Multan in 1175. However, he was defeated by Bhima II, the Solanki ruler of Gujarat in 1178. In 1191, he again suffered a defeat at the hands of Prithviraj Chauhan in the first battle of Tarain. However, he crushed Prithviraj in the second Battle of Tarain in 1192 with the help of Jai Chandra of Gahadwala. In 1194, Muhammed defeated Jai Chandra himself in the Battle of Chandwar Muhammed was murdered by an Afghan Muslim fanatic in 1206, soon after his suppression of the rebellion of the Kokkass in Punjab.

Arabs never got beyond Sindh. Arabs are notorious losers who rarely won wars. It was the non-Arab muslims who kept Islam flag flying.

Muhammed Ghaznavi was a Turk not Arab. The Seljuks were a central Asian nomadic tribe that was Islamised and later became Ghazis. The Mameluks were the "slave" turks. Babur was a Chagtai Turk who also claimed lineage from Genghiz Khan ( which is doubtful, lineage from Genghiz was considered a mater of pride for Central asian warlords).

Islam was spread in India through Sufi mystics rather than the sword. The Arabs never got any further than Multan.

bro... its not about spread of islam... its about arab invasion/plunder .... if u remember when nadir shah conquered delhi he did "qatl-e-aam" in chandni chowk... hindus as well as muslims were slaughtered mercilessly... these plunderers never cared about religion

The arabs invaded Sindh which was part of ancient india under Muhmmad Bin Qasim of Ummayad Caliphate, however if we look at Pakistan's map, Arabs had controlled portion of our baluchistan (since it was part of Sassanid Persian empire) long before that, during time of Hazrat Umar (R) when Persians were defeated , significant portion of our Baluchistan was captured by Rashidun caliphate, i read somewhere the baluch tribes even revolted against muslims in Kalat during caliphate of Hazrat Ali (R), the rebellion was crushed !!!

There was no Islamic unity. Babur attacked and defeated Ibrahim Lodhi and later the Mughals and Afghans fought like cats and dogs. Both were sunni muslims.

Dude Arabs were trading b with India (Kerala) even before Islam was formed . But they found their new religion these traders now brought their new religion to India As Hindu Kingdom respect all religions and their way of life (since we had lot of God's ) we had no problems to letting them to build a place of worship Mosque for Arab traders to pray. This masque is still there in kerala . We can see the structure of buildings with lo software Hindu symbols . Same goes with Christians also . Those days since Kerala was one of our own trade route for many years Jews escaped into India for respectable life . And our kingdoms even though fought wars with each others they all were Hindus. Which preach freedom and equality . So they allowed Jews to live in India for many 100s of years . Knowing this Christians from the west came to India in search of Jews. Either to convert them or to kill them . But when they reached in India they found these Jews wr protected by Hindu kings . So they started to build Church's . Again our dumbo sympathetic Hindu kings allowed it . And that church was also incorporated with Hindu culture . Then kings thought it's in respect of Hinduism . But now we know they used Hindu culture to confuse people and convert them :pop:

Buddy Muhammad Bin Qasim invaded under Ummayad Caliphate, the invasion was cuz of strategic and trade reasons, plus the local population had turned against Sindhi ruler Raja Dahir, the notorious king who married his own sisters, they found it a brilliant opportunity, Ummayad empire was huge on one end it had sindh and multan, on the other it had Lisbon in Portugal, as far as the plunder is concerned this has always happened throughout human history, in europe, in africa or in asia, the victorious always did plunder the wealth of defeated army, Nadir Shah u r referring to also defeated and killed Ottoman Caliphate's Grand Vazir Osman Topal Pasha and then plundered Dehli, however the invasions under Rashidun Caliphate were different, that is the first 4 caliphs and companions of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), when Sassanids were defeated and Pakistan's baluchistan was captured, even the people of Sassanid empire and Byzantine empire rejoiced when under Caliph Umar (R) their lands were liberated, cuz their reign wasnt guided by lust for materialism rather spiritualism, after those 4 caliphs (around 30 years after death of Prophet (S.A.W) arab nationalism and materialistic kingdoms (just like any other kingdom) like ummayads started

Not only that ,Whenever the rulers of India united the results were different

for example: Crushing defeat of 3rd Caliphate Army in Rajasthan

WE had lots of tiny tribes Kingdom in sindh provinces itself and check thisthe Indians were far superior to the other nations inhabiting the area at that time. Especially the Greek soldiers were told of a formidable power on the Ganga. Obviously it was the kingdom of Magadha ruled by the Nandas who maintained an army far outnumbering that of Alexander. So, despite the repeated appeals of Alexander to advance, the Greek soldiers did not budge an inch :D

HE JUST SAW THE TRAILER !!! Most powerful kingdoms than Nadas wr there in other parts of India ....
MIGHTY NATION

Yea and Shias and Sunni where fighting crown . Later Shia leader escaped to Iraq ? But later again recaptured and killed by Sunnis . Am I right ?

Islamic invaders could never set foot in the eastern mountains of India. Ladakh, Darjiling, North-Eastern states of India were always free of Islamic rule.

Not sure about all the details, I guess its the Battle of Karbala which is the root.
