The officers of the Myanmar Air Force confirmed that the purchase of a JF-17 «Thunder» fighter jets was approved. They said the order was part of a deal signed by China, Pakistan , and Myanmar.

The same was already reported during Zhuhai airshow as well, in another thread, whereby it was even trnaslated from another article that most probably, the Myanmar customized (FC/1 JF-17) Aircraft would be renamed (unknown).

With reference to first article here, translation is a bit hilarious and much complex to rearrange all here but as far as I understand,

Chinese press meet the Burmese Military officers that confirmed the purchase but did not confirm the numbers. However, according to Israeli Source, the order for 16 JF-17s is placed with US$ 35 Millions (seems like advance payment for confirmation of order).

Myanmar was the first confirmed export order at the last year PAS, but it wanted to engage both China and Pakistan separately, hence the reason the order was put on hold and now Nigeria may be the first foreign recipient.

Hopefully numerous nations will consider blk3 for export. It will be best replacement out there for Mig21/F5 operators.

Ruby?

No idea, I would prefer to wait for confirmation however, it could be a mere media misreading/hearing as well. Let's see. We had a circulated picture of prototype/test flying in blue camo in JF-17 thread as well that most probably matches the Myanmar colour scheme.
