Around 72 suspected Bangladeshi nationals were offloaded from a train and detained in Assam's Nagaon district on Saturday, police said.
The passengers were travelling in the Rajyarani Express, which runs from Dhubri to Silghat in Nagaon district, and when the train stopped at Jakhalabanda station, the co-passengers reported the matter to police.
The border police was accordingly informed and the passengers taken into custody.
They have been asked to furnish documents to prove their nationality, police said.
Claiming to be daily wage labourers, the passengers said they were on their way to Silghat to find work at some construction site near the world-famed Kaziranga National Park.
Meanwhile, the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) stopped the train for more than three hours at Jakhalabanda station while it was on its way back to Dhubri in the evening demanding that railway authorities should stop such Bangladeshi nationals from boarding the train.

Locals detain 75 suspected Bangladeshis in Assam

Guwahati, March 17 (IANS)
The people of Jakhalabandha town in Nagaon district Saturday rounded up 75 suspected Bangladeshi nationals for illegally entering the Indian territory. The group included one female, police said.

Jakhalabandha is located about 50 km from Nagaon district headquarters and adjacent to Kaziranga National Park, famous for and home to the one-horned rhino.
"Local people told us that there has been movement of suspected Bangladeshi nationals in the area for last few days. However, today (Saturday) the local people gheraod the group at Jakhalabandha railway station and informed us," said a police official from Nagaon district.

The group was coming from Dhubri on the Dhubri-Silghat passenger express which arrived at Jakhalabandha station Saturday morning.

"The group failed to submit any valid document to prove their Indian identities and later admitted that they were on their way to Kuthori near the Kaziranga National Park," said Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of Kaliabor sub Division S.R. Bardhan.
Sixty members of the group, including a female, failed to provide any document to prove their Indian citizenship. While these 60 have been detained at the Jakhalabandha police station, the remaining 15 were released.

"We have handed over the 60 to the Border Branch of the Assam police for detailed investigation," an offical said.

Illegal infiltration from Bangladesh is one of the burning problems in Assam, with thousands of Bangladeshi nationals entering the state every month through the porous International Border for work and a better life.

There are about 272 km of Indo-Bangla International border in Dhubri and Karimganj sector and most of the portions of the border are still open.

Various students' organizations and pressure groups of the state have been demanding complete sealing of the border with electric fencing to stop infiltration

Atleast now the students group themselves have taken the responsibility which is good for our nation.... I have given 3 sources, which should be enough for BD members regarding its truth... They should be sent back...

And Bangladeshi cry when we shoot illegal entry in India..Will BD gov. take the BD people back ....no....what option left for India...Do the same what US does with Mexican ...shoot them if they try to enter illegally.

It's good that the local citizens are themselves becoming aware of the grave threat that the illegal Bangladeshis pose and that they are informing the authorities accordingly.

Now BD members will deny the incident..... They will not accept it as truth no matter how many sources i provide.....

These people are our martyr soldier. When the political persons are failed they can create some problems to India. With help of this problem we can gain some benefit in unsolved problems. India has given us Bihari problem so we r giving them illegal immigrants. It's a revenge.

Good job...if North Easterners are given the full freedom all the Bangladeshis will be chased away within a month. It is the Congress/TMC Govt and earlier communists who are hand in glove for want of votes.

Now the most important thing is these orgs should follow up what happens with the detained and make sure they are not released.

well now u have started aagain with a BANG !!!!!
BINGO....

I am going to get back on topic and say this as i have stated numerous times. Lock them up in jail and after that deport them back to Bangladesh. Honestly, the border illegals threads should be banned in the bangladeshi section, same topic every other weekend and same arguments which leads to same trolling.

There is no conspiracy here, poor folks in Bangladesh migrate to India in search for a better life. If its done illegally, you have every right to catch them, lock them up in jail or do whatever it says in your constitution. Follow the law.

Hope everyone be like u bro....
Rightly said....

Assam does not belong to India... It it occupied by them. So they shouldn't talk.... Once BNP in power ULFA will be reformed.... Till then Alvida.

Funny news...In Bangladesh not everyone moves around with their national id card with them. Same case may also be over here. You can not expect a poor day labor moves around with their identity documents with them all the time n most importantly this report also said it alleged or suspected. This is not concluding.

If in reality they are bangladeshi national provide necessary proof to Bangladeshi government, it will take it back. No need to make any fuss. Recently Bangladeshi government legalized status around 200000 illegal Bangladeshi nationals in Malaysia. So it won't be a big deal.

Illegal migration is a common phenomena. Many illegal Indian migrants come to Bangladesh and go all around the world.

But 20 million illegal migration story is a big time myth and hoax prepated by radical Hindu extremist politicians. We already proved it one of the thread which was opened on this issue.
