Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R K Dhowan said that the Indian Navy has always backed home-grown initiatives and it was the only force which was close to 100% indigenisation of its military assets.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R K Dhowan said that the Indian Navy has always backed home-grown initiatives and it was the only force which was close to 100% indigenisation of its military assets. He said that the Indian Navy has and will sincerely be in line with the Prime Ministers 'Make In India' policy and would take full advantage of the country's expertise to develop state-of-the-art warships.

India has been developing warships for the past 50 years and the Naval Design Bureau has made world class warships for the Indian Navy.

Admiral Dhowan said that there are Currently 41 warships under construction all at various Indian Shipyards. This proves India's self-reliance in warship design & construction and Indian weapons technology onboard naval vessels.

KARWAR NAVAL BASE EXPANSION ::
The first phase of construction of the Karwar Naval base, code-named Project Seabird, was completed in 2005 and the base was commissioned on 31 May 2005. Development of Phase II commenced in 2011. INS Kadamba is currently the third largest Naval base in India. After the completion of this phase of the project, Kadamba will be able to base 50 front-line warships, and will be the biggest naval base east of the Suez canal. Construction of Phase II is expected to be completed in the next 6 to 8 years.

Warship lifting facilities at Karwar have already gone live. The Indian Navy Navy is strictly following its vision of zero carbon footprints at all its naval bases.

The Indian Navy has been facing opposition from local farmers in parting with their land over the issue of Land acquisition. Admiral Dhown said that the development of the Navy is the development of the nation. He urged all concerned parties to fully cooperate with the Navy's expansion into a major blue water force in the 21st century.

A COMBAT READY FORCE ::
Today the Indian Navy is fully equipped to counter any threats to the country's maritime interests. The Indian Navy when compared to the Army and Air Force is the only force which is 100% combat ready with state-of-the-art warships, aircraft carriers, naval fighter jets, anti-submarine capabilities and stealth destroyers. If ordered by New Delhi, it can completely neutralise the Pakistani Navy within a few days and enfore a Naval blockade on Pakistan in the event of a war.

The Indian Ocean Region is fast emerging as the centre of the world and the Indian Navy will have to maintain its dominant status as the sole super power in the Indian Ocean. It has full advantage of being close to mainland India and also the Andaman Nicobar chain of islands that can keep China in check.

The blueprint of the future of the Indian navy is firmly focused on indigenisation. It will continue to place more warship orders with Indian shipyards in the coming years and will help them work at full capacity and generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs. Unlike the Indian Army and the Air Force, the Indian Navy helps the country save on precious hard earned foreign exchange.

India has saved around $6 to $8 billion dollars of precious money by constructing INS Vikrant, India's newest aircraft carrier which is currently under construction in Kochi. The launch of the aircraft carrier will catapult India to a group of elite nations that have the capability to design and construct aircraft carriers on its own without foreign assistance.

Almost 100% things are manufactured in India. In some cases only when no option is there then only order is placed for international vendors.

Indian Navy is the only force in our military that have a well planned strategy.Except subs they are state of art in other field.And Sub modernization is already kickstarted.

Bit by bit the IN is ensuring their ships are indigenised- before India used to build entire ships abroad, now hulls are made in India, before India was importing specialist steel from abroad, now SAIL is producing such tell for the IN, now the DRDO is developing cutting edge sonar systems, the Brahmos and BARAK-8 are (in part) Indian weapons systems. The remaining fronts the DRDO needs to tackle are weapons (CIWS) and radars and I'm sure they will deliver on both these fronts within a decade.

Things are looking up for the IN :smokin:
