What's new

33 Uzbeks, 3 Germans among the 40 killed in Airstrikes in N.Waziristan.

If you had to go back & do it all over again - What would you different ? :what:

Depends on how far back, if you sent me back to Liaquat Ali Khan, I'd advise him to not ally with the USA in the first place. Though that can be attributed to my bias towards the Soviets as I am a Communist.

A fellow Socialist !

(i) Political Ideology - Check !

(ii) Love for Food - Check !

(iii) Busss now all thats missing is for you to be born-again as a Butt Sahib; by the Maker you'd be a Perfect Being then ! :smokin:

Khair jokes aside; I meant if we were to go back in the '90s but I suppose thats a moot !

My contention was is the Army as 'living for the moment' or 'focused on the present' or 'tactical instead of strategic' as many of her critics say it is or does the Army have a 20 year Game Plan chalked down as per the Threat Assessment which is continually reviewed & things reappraised as time goes on ! :undecided:

An unrelated question. DG ISI never wears "WARDI" in his his two year tenure??? Seen pasha as well, most of time in civilian clothes even when attending high level meetings and briefings

The Army had little to do with the Taliban Strategy of the 90s, you may blame them for JuD and LeT though. When LeT was banned, a major portion of their following went and joined what would later become the TTP.

Haiiiin ?

The Army was in the driving seat during the Afghan Jihad & a tremendously powerful institution throughout the '90s - Who but them would be calling the shots ?

And what about the JuD & the LeT ? :what:

@Icarus One more "stupid" question,. Why DG IB never attends decision making high level meetings of Civil-Army. I can see DG ISI and DG MI, but not DG IB in there. If this meeting is about operation, then DG IB should be there as IB is major stckholder of internal security

IB is a Police Institution, they are taken on board when planning Ops in Urban Areas. Most of their domestic intelligence work has been taken over by the ISI since the beginning of this insurgency.

It was more of a Political maneuver made at the behest of the Saudis by Nawaz and then extended by BB. JuD and LeT were meant to organize the Kashmir Insurgency that was reaching its zenith in the 90s, they had some clandestine support from the military.

I'll bid you gentlemen farewell, busy day tomorrow!
Good Night.....

Apparently according to the Abbotabbad Commission Report, the impression I got reading it, is that none of other Intelligence Outfits are up-to-the-task nor does the ISI trust them to be competent enough to do it anyhow so the ISI is doing everything....even those things which are constitutionally not under its ambit - Maybe thats why he was never called !

i know it will be difficult for you to answer but pardon me for asking, Pakistan army and establishment is still supporting LeT/JuD along with other anti-India groups aren't they ?

No, not since LeT was banned. It was the blow back from banning LeT that lead to serious doubts about setting up such groups which such a degree of autonomy that they will continue to function without state direction, support and funds.
