Dhaka, May 1 (bdnews24.com) – Nearly seven months after beheading eight Bangladeshis over murder charges, Saudi Arabia executed two more on Tuesday for killing and theft, the local media said.

The duo, Najoum Mohammad Amin Abdul-Sharif and Abdul-Majid Abu Bakr Hamza, were accused of killing another Bangladeshi national Mohammed Shaheen Mohammad Kabir and stealing his money and mobile phones, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported quoting a Ministry of Interior statement.

The statement said the Bangladeshis were executed in the city of Jazan. "The General Court issued the sentence against them. It was approved by the Cassation Court and the Supreme Court. A royal order was issued to implement the sentence," it read.

The statement underlined the keenness of the government of Saudi Arabia on 'achievement of security and justice and implementation of rules of Sharia against anyone who attacks innocent people and sheds their blood'.

The ministry also warned of punishment against anyone who tried to commit crimes.

On Oct 7 last year, death sentences to eight Bangladeshis, found guilty of robbing a warehouse and murdering the security guard, were carried out at Saudi Arabia's Riyadh.

The beheading had attracted condemnation from Bangladesh and elsewhere.

They would have been hanged in BD anyway. I guess beheading is less painful than hanging, is it not? Civilized countries should start looking into pain-free alternatives, like injecting weird chemicals.

Injecting weird chemicals mostly act by depressing respiratory center on brain which is near nape of the neck! Hanging acts in the same way! Displacement of vertebra injures respiratory center.... The most quick and painless death is beheading!

As far as i know, these two were Rohingyas carrying Bangladeshi passport!

Saudis enforce tough and severe punishment in order to deter crime in the first place. What were those guys thinking of committing such a violent crime in KSA to begin with? Saudi Arabia is very tough on criminals.

These punishments like beheading, stoning are certainly of medieval times.

How do you know that beheading is less painful?

what are rohingyas, abangladeshi militant organizations?

The visit of expatriates' welfare minister to Saudi Arabia has for now yielded no good news for the Bangladeshi expatriates who are facing troubles since long regarding renewal of work permits or shifting of jobs.

“The Saudi authorities assured us of allowing job transfers only when they fully open the labour market for Bangladesh,” Khandker Mosharraf Hossain told reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport yesterday after his week-long visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

He, however, could not say for sure when the Kingdom would fully open the market, but hoped that Saudi Arabia would require huge workers to implement its plan to build five mega cities.

Saudi Arabia, which hosts around 20 lakh Bangladeshis, reduced recruitment from Bangladesh in 2008. Annual recruitment has come down nearly to 15,000 since 2009 from over a lakh in the previous years.

It is also not allowing the Bangladeshis to join new jobs upon completion of their job contracts, and stopped renewing their work permits for the last few years, expatriates in the country say.

To address these issues, a six-member delegation comprising high officials and led by the minister visited Saudi Arabia on February 22-27. Mosharraf later flew to India.

The Bangladesh delegation held meetings with Saudi labour minister Adel M Fakeih, vice interior minister and two governors and requested them to help deal with these problems.

“The Saudi authorities said they have taken new policy regarding human resource management to create more jobs for the Saudis.

“Besides that, involvement of some Bangladeshi expatriates in criminal activities has created negative impression,” he said.

Moreover, there are around 5-6 lakh Rohingyas, and of them, several hundred carry Bangladeshi identities. “Many of them are engaged in crimes,” the minister said.

Mosharraf said he informed the Saudi authorities about the measures the Bangladesh government has taken to screen criminal records of the jobseekers.

“We asked them to take action against the criminals. In need, they can deport these workers and we will help them in this regard,” he told reporters.

Begum Shamsunnahar, director general of the manpower bureau, told The Daily Star that Saudi Arabia surely would recruit workers from Bangladesh, but they attached a condition of “foolproof screening”.

They also highlighted the issue of high migration cost that often force the workers getting involved in crimes, said Shamsunnahar, who accompanied the minister during the visit.

“As brokers trade on visas at both the ends, we told them that both the countries should work together in this regard,” she added.

Mosharraf said Saudi Arab and Bangladesh agreed to form a joint working group comprised of officials from both the countries to monitor the labour recruitment process.

A Saudi delegation would visit Bangladesh in two months to see the measures Bangladesh has taken to discipline the sector, the minister said.

Beheading someone is the most cruel thing in the world. I can't believe someone here is trying to justify it as the less painful way. The person is going to die anyways, so does it matter if they die in pain or not? Why not kill them the way you kill your animals? I thought that was the least painful way?

Think about their relatives, as if dealing with someone's death is not enough, that they have to go through looking at the headless body of their loved ones on top of that.

Its barbaric and should be condemned. Specially when rich Saudis are able to pay their way out of death sentences.

Very likely...especially looking at their names- unbecoming for Bangladeshi Bengali nationals.

Bangladeshis are the mostly in involved in criminal activities in all the GCC countries and that is what they are paying the price for, its been 3 years since kuwait has imposed a ban on all kinds of visas for bangladeshis expats due to the same reason.

Beheading is way to harsh. Saudis are still living in Medieval times...

Since we never experienced death ourselves once let alone twice (by hanging once and by beheading the next time and then describe our experience) our opinion will be only subjective. Allah forbid, if I were convicted for killing and then given a choice I would choose beheading.

LOL, the same Indians are fighting for murderers, who openly support BSF shooting practise on daily basis ! Koto Ki J dekhbo Mama.

Not fighting for anyone, just saying that beheading someone is probably not the best way.
