KARACHI: Over 78% of US investors say they plan to invest in Pakistan over the next 12 months in light of improving law an order situation, among other factors, a survey by the American Business Council (ABC) of Pakistan indicated.

According to the ‘perception survey’, 83% of the participants are optimistic about the long-term economic landscape in the country. Only 65% of respondents in last year’s survey said they intend on investing in Pakistan.

Majority of the participants rated the business climate of Pakistan in 2015-16 as satisfactory with only 8% giving it a poor rating.

Participants were asked to rate on factors including economic and political factors and performance of industries and businesses in the country in the last two years.

The US investors also believe there has been a notable improvement of 30% in law and order situation as compared to last year.

‘Our members are positive and remain committed to Pakistan,’ said Mr. Sami Ahmed, President of American Business Council of Pakistan.

He added that Pakistan’s standing in the international committee is vital in determining its competitiveness as other Asian countries continue to attract foreign capital

Good news. US investors are taking a wait-and-look approach before investing in Pakistan. As CPEC investments starts giving returns, expect more FDI, especially from non-China sources.

Except that no link to the survey itself can be found, specially the number of respondents.

We need more open minded Indian members like u here when it comes to CPEC. Most of the ones we have start d*ck measuring and derail the thread.

This is not believable. Americans are divesting out of Pakistan not investing.
This survey is probably polling only member affiliates of the American business council of Pakistan.
BTW their website ABCPK.org.pk seems to have disappeared.

Again, the brod point of this survey points towards increase in stability and trust of people of Pakistan towards democratic GOv of Pakistan...If you see, since last couple of years, Pakistan economy is doing well...

78 percent is bullish IMO.

The 78% refers to members of the Business Council, not the entire representation of the American Business Community.

Which isn't so bad, many of these types of "Councils" usually have about 25-60 members across industries.

Pakistan is the best place to invest. Put 100K in now, get 1000K out in 5-6 years time.

So how many millions, or billions, of dollars are actually expected to come to Pakistan as FDI, if this survey is to be believed?
