The speech was dedicated to Students Day, when Iran marks the beginning of a 444-day hostage situation at the US Embassy in Tehran. On November 4, 1979, amid the Islamic Revolution, Iranian students broke into the diplomatic mission and took 52 American citizens hostage. The anniversary is marked on November 3 this year because the country observes an Islamic calendar.

Khamenei is a known skeptic toward possible rapprochement with the US, regularly criticizing Washington for not delivering on its promises. In his latest speech, he said the tenor of the presidential campaign in America indicated its moral bankruptcy and a general crisis of leadership.

“The policy and essence of the arrogant US government is on the basis of over-ambitiousness and for years it has applied the policy in different parts of the world, particularly in the Western Asia region and pre-revolution Iran,” he said.

“Now the Americans are in a situation that they have become desperate about the developments in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen and North Africa. Isn't this situation a crisis?"
Iran and the US have had difficult relations ever since the 1979 revolution in Iran. Under the Obama administration, relations between the two countries somewhat thawed as Tehran and six leading world powers negotiated a deal, under which Iran agreed to restrict its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.

The deal was pushed forward by reforming Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, with Supreme Leader Khamenei remaining skeptical, but neutral. The outcome angered hardliners in both countries as well as Iran’s regional adversaries like Israel and Saudi Arabia.

In Iran the effect from the lifting of sanctions is viewed by many as underwhelming, as only those related to the nuclear program were lifted or eased. The US kept in place sanctions relating to Iran’s rocket development, alleged sponsorship of terrorism and other issues.

Khamenei was not the only Iranian official to attack the US on the anniversary of the hostage-taking. Massoumeh Ebtekar, who served as spokesperson for the Iranian students during the 1979 crisis and is now Iran’s vice-president, said the students were justified in their actions because they were convinced that the US was plotting a coup to thwart the revolution.

“They were not militants, radicals. They thought there was an imminent danger... of another coup d’état that would have led to the downfall of the very young and fragile Islamic Revolution,” she told AFP.

In 1953, the US and Britain orchestrated a coup against the government of Iran’s left-leaning Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadeq in response to his nationalization of UK-owned oil assets in the country. The coup installed the pro-US leader Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi as the country’s monarch. In 1979, at the height of the Islamic revolution, the Shah fled Iran and an Islamic government took office.

“They installed a government that was a puppet to American policies for 25 years, a tyrant who had imposed dictatorship, very dark ages for Iran,” Ebtekar said.

She also compared the students to the whistleblower organization WikiLeaks, saying they too exposed American classified documents, which they seized along with the embassy.

All hail to you great leader of Islamic world.

Now why ?? Did the atomic deal went vain ?

Right after nuclear deal woman!!!!

Iran's supreme leader bans negotiations with the United States

Iran's supreme leader bans negotiations with U.S.
01:13
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday banned any further negotiations between Iran and the United States, putting the brakes on moderates hoping to end Iran's isolation after reaching a nuclear deal with world powers in July.

Khamenei, the highest authority in the Islamic Republic, already said last month there would be no more talks with the United States after the nuclear deal, but has not previously declared an outright ban.

His statements directly contradict those of moderate Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who says his government is ready to hold talks with the United States on how to resolve the conflict in Syria, where the two countries back opposing sides.

"Negotiations with the United States open gates to their economic, cultural, political and security influence. Even during the nuclear negotiations they tried to harm our national interests.," Khamenei was quoted as saying on his website.

"Our negotiators were vigilant but the Americans took advantage of a few chances," he said.

Although he supported the last 18 months of negotiations, Khamenei has not publicly endorsed the nuclear agreement with the United States, Germany, France, Britain, China and Russia that settled a standoff of more than a decade.

The West feared Iran wanted to develop nuclear weapons, suspicions Tehran denies.

The agreement, which curbs Iran's nuclear program in exchange for crippling sanctions being lifted, was welcomed by Iranians who are keen to see their living standards improve and better relations with the rest of the world.

It was also a great political victory for Rouhani and his faction in Iran ahead of some key elections next year and as such has deepened the divide in Iran's complex power structure between moderates and hardliners.

"CRITICAL SITUATION"

In his address to Revolutionary Guards Navy commanders, Khamenei said talks with the United States brought only disadvantages to Iran.

"Through negotiations Americans seek to influence Iran ... but there are naive people in Iran who don't understand this," Khamenei was quoted as saying to the IRGC commanders, who are also running much of Iran's military involvement in Syria.

Hundreds of Iranian troops arrived in Syria last month, sources told Reuters, where they will join government forces and their Lebanese Hezbollah allies in a major ground offensive backed by Russian air strikes.

The West dispute the aims of Russia's air campaign, which is causing friction between Moscow and NATO.

"We are in a critical situation now as the enemies are trying to change the mentality of our officials and our people on the revolution and our national interests," Khamenei told the Guards.

Khamenei often invokes an unspecified "enemy" when talking about Western powers, particularly the United States and Israel, which he suspects of plotting to overthrow the Islamic Republic.
His comments might invigorate the hardline lawmakers seeking the impeachment of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif over shaking hands with U.S. President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly.

"On and off the record, it was an accident," Zarif said in an interview with New Yorker on Tuesday.

"It has already cost me at home. But everything I do costs me at home, so this is not an aberration."

Lovers quarrel.
USA attacks the countries that has made deal with and received their military information.
E.g. Iraq's nuclear deal before USA's attack on it.
Gaddafi's nuclear deal with USA before USA's attack on his country.
Both of Saddam and Gaddafi started direct negotiations with United Snakes and gave them whole information of their missile and military bases for further trustiness. USA attacked them with full confident. hahhah. We are not fool like them

This is what I respect about Iran. They have the nerve to tell the truth. No scurrying around to save themselves from the fury of the worlds greatest power like the rest of the muslim world, allying with the Americans in fear of their fury and aggression. Iran though domestically promoting a brand of their own version of Islam which is radical, banning women from football matches it does not shy away from spitting in the American tyrants face.

US has always searched for an enemy. The attack, 9/11 was conducted by sunni terrorists but they are bullying Iran which is shia. US is a tyrant who will do anything to make itself stronger. Their beef with Iran is that they have not allowed any US troops or bases on their soil. Iran should get nukes. If Israel and tyrant US can have it why not Iran.

One must acknowledge that Iranians have guts to at least to speak up
The only quality i admire about them is their resilience to stand up to this bullying of Western countries most importantly the US. Pakistani leaders on the other hand, well the least i say the better.

There is only one country in the world that has actually used nuclear weapons on civilian populations, and that is America.

Literally every single country in the world has greater right to nuclear weapons than America does.

Even the insane Fat Kims are better than America, since they never actually used their nuclear weapons on anyone. And THAT is saying something.

Far better than our puppets / traitors who lie and deceive us and de-moralise the whole nation on behalf of their masters. Just remember how our brave commando let us down "USA would have sent Pakistan into stone age" Really.. why couldn't it do that to the non-nuclear Iran?

Spot on. Which is why i for one want my country Pakistan to develop ICBMs capable of hitting anywhere if push comes to shove.

Fat KIm is a really good comedian if only he would stop killing people for not laughing at his jokes. Seriously though, the Iranians are only pointing out what Pakistan's experience has been for the last fifty or sixty years. You cant trust the Americans. They will steal the milk from your tea if they could.

US Empire used nuclear weapons and depleted uranium many times:
Against civilians in Hiroshima.
Against civilians in Nagasaki.
Against civilians in Yugoslavia.
Against civilians in Afganistan.
Against civilians in Iraq.
Against civilians in Lybia.
Against civilians in Syria.
And US war criminal Douglas MacArthur wanted to use nuclear weapons against China when he was humiliated by Chinese volunteers. "USA" in rogue state even worse than Nazi Germany.
