RIYADH: Saudi Arabia will host in Riyadh on Sunday a conference of heads of the general staff of 14 allied countries fighting against Daesh.
The delegates will discuss increasing coordination between participating countries to serve regional and international security.
The meeting aims to enhance efforts by the alliance, which has achieved tangible progress in recent operations against the terrorist organization.
Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al-Bunian, president of the chiefs of staff, said the Kingdom’s hosting of the conference under the leadership of King Salman reflects continued Saudi commitment to international efforts against terrorist organizations, foremost among them Daesh.
Al-Bunian said the Kingdom is a target of terrorists, but is determined to continue its efforts against terrorism and to take all necessary measures via its military alliance to target Daesh in Syria and Iraq and prevent it from destabilizing the region and the world.
He said the Kingdom is working with the international alliance via intellectual, financial and security paths to weaken such organizations and criminalize anyone who offers them help.
The countries participating in the conference are Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the US, Bahrain, Turkey, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco and Nigeria.
Saudi Arabia was among the first countries to call for forming an alliance against terrorist organizations on all levels.
After the declaration of the alliance in September 2014, Riyadh offered $500 million for relief work in Iraq. It has also participated in air sorties against Daesh, and exchanged intelligence with participating countries.
Ash Carter, US defense secretary, recently said that President-elect Donald Trump must commit to “destroying the tumor of Daesh” by leading the fight against the extremist group. “There is a need for the US to remain actively engaged as leader of this coalition,” he said while addressing members of the Global Coalition against Daesh at its meeting in London on Dec. 19.
Meanwhile, the terrorist group on Saturday launched one of its fiercest assaults yet on the besieged Syrian city of Deir Ez Zor, leaving more than 30 regime fighters and radicals dead.
The brutal attack — on a day that saw many outbreaks of violence across Syria — came as the political opposition said it “supported” upcoming peace talks in the Kazakh capital Astana.

I wonder why Pakistan is missing from anti Isis conference?
Is it again the sectarian black mail! :(
I think ISIS is not much visible in Pakistan and we don't want them to bring attention..My guess..They are in afghanistan and pakistan is collaborating with Russia and China to confront them there...
Might be due to influence some particular groups have in our media and government is another reason

Wait for haters to come and ruin this thread.

Can you blame these 'haters'?

What can i say, the only countries above that have truly participated significantly for a long time is the US, Turkey is not determined to defeat Daesh they even fueled it, they're just trying to intervene to prevent YPG growth.

Besides, if iraq and syria the main fighters of isis aren't invited to that conference than it doesn't mean much. Just another show with no significance.

This is a good step, glad KSA is taking more responsibility in this matter. Now if only there was a way to make sure both Iran and KSA can come together for the greater good of the region and the world.

iraq and syria

With all due respect, both these countries' governments provide enough ammunition with their past/present sectarian policies to the likes Daesh. I've also read reports of what Iran is planning in Syria with whole neighbourhoods being bought up and settled by Shia families from Iraq and Lebanon. Now I hate ISIS, and those who have read my posts on this forum know how much love I have for KSA, but both sides need to grow up and stop playing the sectarian game.

ideologial ammunition to isis comes from the GCC which is sectarian to the core. iraq isn't sectarian, it's one of the least sectarian in the region. Meanwhile Turkey has a dictator who called Shias worse than Gulenists. The GCC is a group of sunni dictatorships who financed the terror taking place in many countries.

On the battlefield, iraqi forces killed more isis than any other force.

i once read an Arab report that iranians are going to be settled in Anbar, do you believe it?
Sectarian is what Muslims are.

Besides if Saudis want to help against isis they should prevent their people from joining, saudi number plates are found in iraq daily, it wouldn't surprise me if that border does not really have a barrier, except for on paper.

This is a conference of terrorist states trying to save face in front of the west who are aware of their initial support to isis.

meh, what determined to prevent bs when KSA and ISIS run on the same disgusting hateful expansionist ideology.

Tho bolded part is enough not to take what you said seriously. So you have 'read reports'? I also have 'read reports' that unicorns exist, aliens will soon invade earth, hell, I've even read that earth is center of universe.

That is the level of the people on this forum and they all have their opinions on countries far away from them.

I wonder why Pakistan is missing from first ever global anti Isis conference?
Is it again the sectarian black mail! :(
Pak had decided to join us against ISIS. But after the nuclear threat from Israel, there was a delay on Pak's decision. I hope you would join us soon. You can see the truth only on battlefield.
Actually Al-Saud family is a play-ball in USA's hands against sovereign countries in middle east like Iran, Iraq, Syria and other safe countries in the region. Be USA's slave just like the Al-Saud family or die by Wahabi command. That is what Al-Saudis have brought to our region.

It is a good step by the Saudis. However, they need to expand the participation of countries to beyond sectarian lines... i.e. include the shia countries... and expand the list of countries to include other Muslim countries like pakistan.... Lastly they need to also include countries like Russia that are currently involved.

Finally, they need to address the elephant in the room... the extremist ideology that gave birth to the twisted Isis type interpretation.
You need to go knocking on the doors of the mosques around the world and look at all the literature that justifies this khawaarji fithna...

Explain the ideology which you refer here... and also explain why hindus in Saudi Arabia find it better place to be than India?
