UN recognizes Crimea as occupied – for the first time

Crimea is part of Ukraine. Russia illegal annexation. I bet Crimea was part of Crimean Khanate longer than it was part of Russia.

Crimea was a part of Russia for most of its history, and many Russians died fighting foreign invasions to keep it a part of Russia. It was signed over to Ukrainian jurisdiction when Ukraine and Russia were both a part of the Soviet Union. After the Soviet Union ended Crimea pushed for independence because it did not want to be a part of Ukraine.

There was never anything Ukrainian about Crimea, it went from Russian control to Ukrainian from one swipe of a pen.

As for illegal annexation, Turkey annexed half of Cyprus and most of modern day Turkey was territory seized from other people.

You can't justify Crimea as Russians historically that justification will go in the bin. Huns, Bulgars, Khazars, Kipchaks and Golden horde and then the Crimean Khanate(which had Crimea for like 300 years) means Russian owning it was not very long historically, might aswell give it to the Crimean Tatars.

But in reality you gained Crimea but you lost Ukraine as a whole. You just made all the Ukrainians enemy.

Well then,by your definition Crimea belongs to the Crimean Tatars.Tatarstan belongs to the Tatars etc.
There are 22 republics in Russia of which most are not Russian,so Russia annexed them?

Rule of law

Which major power follows the rule of law when their national interests are at stake?

America when they invaded Iraq? Guantanamo Bay?

China when we siezed the Scarborough shoal in 2012, or in the current island building and militarisation of the South China Sea?

I thought you mentioned Realpolitik before? Now you are talking about rule of law. In Realpolitik, national interests come first.

Nobody is going to fight Russia in order to return Crimea to the Ukraine. That is the bottom line. Everyone in the world sees how irrelevant international law is, since it is voluntary by nature. Domestic law is what counts.

No, it was not by my definition but by another Turkish members definition. Western and NATO countries like to annex land from others but then criticize none NATO members that do the same. They invade countries and then sanction others for the same offense, they carve up countries but then condemn others for doing the same thing, they interfere in foreign elections but then complain if others do similar things.

What does that even mean? This makes no sense, there are only 22 republics or oblasts in Russia and Slavs are natives to many of those republics.

I meant to say, most republics are not ethnicly Russian, the Russians came later.

You have a great day now, you hear!

Expected response.

Geopolitics is about power. Russia has the power to take Crimea, and no one can do anything about it, it's really all there is.

And even if someone could do something about it, they don't WANT to. So in the end the result is the same.

Not one country on Earth is willing to go to war with Russia in order to help the Ukraine.

IMHO, NATO especially the Zionists who control power want war with Russia. They cannot bear a strong Russia. However others in the Modern West like, Trump, Le Pen et al do not wish for war. There is an internal divide in the West...let us see what happens.
