Why do Subcontinentals suck as Sports?

Yep.. See the question by the OP was why some countries do better at sports than people from the sub continent even though overall they're poorer.. The Answer to that is genes, Some races are naturally athletic than others due to natural selection due to the environments they come from
True genes does make a difference but is that all you need? We can also ask the question other way around.
If we had the genes would we have done better? Having genes is just only one part of the equation.

As I said sub continent is not good in either non sports activity as well. Though african lineage ppl do excel in sports but not all of them represent african countries. May be kenyan /ethopian runners or some other african country having few ppl. But western countries simply excel in most of them and doing good in most of them is not an accident. That simply happens bcos they have excellent system which allows ppl to perform to their potential. Wat about chess, why only few ppl from subcontinent? dont we have brains?

Until few decades back subcontinent teams were butt of jokes in cricket world. Indians & pakistan teams were called bus drivers & conductors, lankans were treated with racist innuendos by the aussies. But dint the world cup wins silence them. It requires temperament, attitude ,professionalism...etc Why dont they replicate it in other sports bcos they are not going the distance in other areas.

Heres the testimony from only one sprint medal winner from subcontinent which sadly represents the state of affairs & our attitude towards not only sports but other domains as well.

Jayasinghe was suspended from competition in April 1998 for failing a drug test that she claimed was rigged because of her political beliefs and a falling out with a Sports Ministry official. She was later cleared of the offense. During a press conference for the women's 200m medalists at the 2000 Olympics, when asked whether her country would be proud of her, she said in a quiet voice:

"I can't explain. You wouldn't understand. They give me, trouble, trouble, trouble. I give them bronze medal. It'll make them sad... It was trouble with me. Doping and sexual harassment."
--------

As some body said only reason sub continent teams can try to dominate cricket is bcos not many countries play that game. Even in that we are just a flash in the pan and not consistent.

India doesn't have the sports culture. I have the physique to be a sportsman. I was quite active in athletics in my school days, but my parents wanted me to be an engineer. So I become one.

Sports people like susanthika Jayasinghe or the Jamsher Khans, Or the Mary Koms and Shushil Kumars are exceptions not the norm, Like i said given the huge numbers the odds are there will be a few from time to time that will punch above their weight

Btw Susanthika is not the only Olympic sprint medalist from South Asia, Shes the second the first also a Lankan.. Duncan White.. 200m Hurdles Silver medalist in 48'

People in Indian Subcontinent studied, preserved and documented Dharma to the level that is fabulous. No other people in the world could think about it. In fact when world was building pyramids people in India were exploring the journey within. They were selected for this purpose and they did it with exception.

Today modern world is benefitting from that Dharmic knowledge.

Now if you want to do other experiments like sports etc. it is upto you how much do you excel in it. It depends on individuals.

1. Unfortunately, poor genetics. Go to a any commercial gym in Pakistan, then in a western country. You'll know what I mean. These people (especially blacks and white) are exceptionally well muscled and tall. I mean more than average. I'm talking North Punjabi/Potohari type heights. Average height is around 5'10, while guys >6'2 is very common

2. Most important -> Poor Diet/Nutrition. These western governments enrich every single food. From milk to vegetables to grains. They know pesticides leech nutritional benefits of foods, so the companies have to re-inject these nutrients. All foods are tested for poisonous substances (over years of consumption ) especially due to fertilizers/pesticides. Water there is also purified and enriched. In the subcontinent, the government couldn't care less. It has bigger problems to tackle such as terrorism etc.

There diet is somewhat lower in carbs, leading to less glycogen storage, so more fat cells are used for energy. Less fat = less estrogen activity = Higher LH and FSH hormones = Higher testosterone.

Also, fewer vitamin deficiencies = healthier body functions = better hormone balance = better athletes

3. They have this ....culture of being hardy. They like being exposed to cold. They like the challenge of a good hard run, a good lifting session

4. Of course, those countries are richer (by exploiting poorer nations), they fund their sports way more. Less corruption, so more funds go to athletes

5. Exceptional nutritional and fitness regimes crafted by career specialists who do decades of research which is used to help athletes

6. Some 'enhancements' ;). A little HGH, MK-677, Halotestin etc never hurt

Im not an expert, just done some reading
Multi factorial but genetics is a big reason.
Many of us do not like to accept this but it is true.

Need more fats and proteins in diet and less sabzi, roti and chawal..

Don't know what makes you laugh sir. If you know this pic how meditation works or used to work in old days.

Anyways fat and protein can be obtained from milk, eggs, nuts etc. Sabzi makes an elephant a Gajraj.

Genes are the limiting factor. If you don't have the innate talent, then no matter what training, you will not get very far.
It is a bit like a car. Genes are the size of the engine. Small engine, then no matter what you do to the brake balance, gear ratio, aerodynamics etc etc your car is going to be limited.

Well can you say the same thing about chinese or japanese. As I said forget about athletics are we better in other areas? We dont need to in the top but being nowhere is utter systemic failure.

Two different things dear, following dharma doesnt mean you shouldnt excel. Quite often we underestimate western society though for all its faults they still have better principles & values than us.

Stop lumping South Asia into one homgenous group. Pakistan does well and will do even better as more money is devoted to sports. As it is British-Pakistani Amir Khan made his name in one of the toughest sports on earth - boxing. There are whole host of MMA fighters that are making their mark from Pakistan. I don't think Pak is going to do well in team sports as that requires money and organization.

As already show Pakistan dominated Squash for decades. That hardly is aberation. India on the other hand. Besides the Sikhs the rest are ....... Ganga is not known to produce men !

It either produces she males or she females. Take your pick.

Wah wah. I would love to have a cup of coffee with you someday.

We can have a cup of coffee but i don't even know how many here are robots and how many are humans. I mean when i see, "fifty robots are viewing this thread" i say WTH, what world is this.

So i don't take digital world too seriously. We like, we comment, we debate thats it. Nothing more than that. Do you think i am a human :D

South Asia is very varied racially and genetically. The further South you go, the less athletic people are, the further North you go, you have folks who can compete with any race in the world.
Much of it is mindset. South Asians frown upon the whole pursing sports thing, unless it is bloody cricket.
You also have diet etc.
But look, Western and other developed states will always dominate due to having the ability to finance sport.

You serious? Considering how dreaded the Sri Lankan cricket team was once?
