Mohammed Shami swings back at haters, says wife’s dress not ‘un-Islamic’

Mohammed Shami on Monday defended his daughter and wife after a photograph posted on December 23 by the Indian cricket team pacer in Facebook led to a slew of unsavoury comments from his followers.

Mohammed Shami faced shocking criticism on social media for posting a picture of his wife in a sleeveless dress. Saying Shami’s wife was un-Islamic, people posting on social media demanded that Shami’s wife, Hasin Jahan, wear the traditional hijab that covers a woman from head to toe. Hasin Jahan is an ex-model from Kolkata.


Mohammed Shami, taken by surprise for the comments, took to Twitter and Facebook to say that he “knew what he was doing.”



“My wife and daughter are my life partners and I know what is to be done and what not,” Mohammed Shami wrote.

The Indian pacer, known for his deadly reverse swing, went on to take a dig at the online trolls saying people who made unacceptable remarks should first “look within.”

Mohammed Shami is currently undergoing rehabilitation for right knee soreness after missing the last two Tests against England



Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif came to Shami’s defence on Sunday and called the comments made on the picture ‘extremely shameful’.

I am glad that the liberal society of the country stood up for Shami here. It is important that true liberals stand up against both sanghi and mullah filth, both are two sides of the same coin.

Funny story, one of my lady friends was similarly "shamed" for not being a "proper" Muslim. She was wearing a sleeveless dress. The guy was a Guji (in London).

She recited a few pages of the Holy Book. (She is a Hafiz), and told him no uncertain words "to stop looking at girls, and also to fk off".

I couldn't stop laughing, typical tharki maulvi.

If your going to dress your wife up as a skank and then post it all over the media people are going to point out she looks like a skank and that he should know better as a muslim

This girl is a Hafiz, she speaks 5 languages, she has worked for various NGO's and even in war zones, where men are afraid to go.

Her Mother is Polish and her father is Pakistani, he passed when she was only 3 years old. Therefore she lived in Poland for most of her life, she still studied Islam and learned the Holy Book by heart from one teacher in Warsaw.

Where she had to catch a train once a week to train to go learn. This girl also went to Pakistan and established contact with her father's family.

She is also married to a young Pakistani Army Officer (a distant cousin of mine).

For you to call her a whore, speaks to your upbringing. FOR GET MUSLIM, SHE IS A FAR BETTER HUMAN BEING, THAN YOU.
