Mughals were Turkish but they were from Farghana valley and Samarqand in Central Asia.

Turks are not natives of Turkey but of Central Asia.

They settled in Turkey just like they settled in South Asia.

Hindus ruled Pakistan for 7000 years and Islam ruled Pakistan for 800 years. But does the past ruling have any effect on the future? No.

Similarly past rule in India too will have zilch effect in the future direction of India.

The Mughals traced their ancestry to both the Turks and the Mongols. Babur, the first Mughal ruler, was the ruler of the Fargana Valley of Uzbekistan and was a Chagatai Turk, which made him a direct descendent of Genghis Khan on his mother's side and a descendent of the Turco-Mongol ruler Timur on his father's side. Mughals are not influenced by Turks. They were Turks themselves. But the point is Turks are not native to Turkey but are from Central Asia.

I know only a part of people of modern day Turkey are of Turkish origin (Racially). Others are from Eastern Europeans(with many blonde haired Caucasians) hence their affinity to join EU. Many of the Caucasians became part of Ottoman empire as Janissaries.
