Process of Manufacturing Next Gen Fighter at PAC To Start Soon

All of that is true, but a chinese designed stealth fighter and made under Pakistan flag (as long as its systems are 1st class) would be the ideal next generation fighter for GCC countries and south east asia.

I think some idiotic journo mistook JF Block III as next generation fighter development.

Next generation jets require next generation fab-tech backbone. Dependence on one particular country although an all-weather friend is not w/o its own perils. Indigenous route is safest and the longest. We are atleast ten+ years away. When are the taxi trials for the ds-FC1? Last i heard was in january 2017.

The issue with going at it alone is that we will be fully liable for the R&D cost, not just of the fighter (i.e. application), but the requisite technology (e.g. composites) too. This is all incredibly valuable stuff, but it requires comprehensive political and policy will, and with an economy to fuel it.

Hi,

Indigenous route is never the best route---. The days of do it alone all by yourself are gone.

The best results come from team work---working with a like minded nation---splitting the cost---sharing the technology and coming out with a better product.

This project doing on your own means that the blunders committed will be all your's and you will be paying for them as well---.

It is better to share---lesser chances of blunders and failures---.

Sir, for once, I agree with your post. If this was the US or even the UK, I can understand the task at hand and that there is plenty of R&D and jet manufacturing that they could do it. But the fact is, in Pakistan's case, creating a stealth plane by itself would be very difficult. I think the Turkish, Chinese and the Russians would be assisting this if I had to guess. Russia would come as a surprise obviously, but if I was to guess, that surprise would be official by 2018. They want to move at a rapid pace and establish a lot of stuff around the "warm waters" for their trade. So it is all coming.

The designing/development of next generation fighter is not a one day job. Further PAF is establishing whole project for this project including Unis/Tech Institutes to other infrastructure. The project shall materialize in next ten Years but shall be helpful to save money along with self reliance.

I wonder why some senior members are short sited even having better info as compared to others.

I think H Khan is closer to the truth. Rather than a complete package, this new aviation city will be making subsystems for a future fifth generation fighter program. If this is taken as true, will be a great step forward from Pakistan perspective because it will also benefit the JF-17 program and save Pakistan time and money.

@Bilal Khan (Quwa) , @MastanKhan
Your argument is fundamentally correct.
But my context was different. Chinese support indigenous fab-tech development in Pakistan. This was my experience & many others in PAF. Nxt gen. aircraft will see an indigenous route, while PAF will avoid re-inventing the wheel with CFD R&D which may track its way from chinese projects.

Well in past many folks stated that the next plane we will make or buy would be 5th Generation plane so likely , it as to be a 5th generation plane

If it is a 4.5th Generation plane another question would rise is it a Single Engine Platform or Twin engine Local production .
