JF-17 Block III's proposed AESA Radar KLJ-7A

Well, surprised to see such reply because there was no such provocation in the post however, I was looking for word "AESA" in there rather an upgraded version of KLJ-7 radar to A that speculates as A for AESA.

@cirr there was nothing to reply in such a way to a senior that too when it was all about to enquire.

Just have a look at the image and try to find "有源相控阵". AESA = 有源相控阵 in Chinese

He is correct about F35 part. Same thing is written in Chinese.
The claim is made by our Chinese fellows which is indeed too hard to digest :p:

yaar, i DO NOT KNOW Chinese so i have to rely on them what they tell me, what they say is writted. Now i get the info that it says :
It says that the radar is an upgrade to the mechanically scanned radar KLJ-7 in current JF-17, with performances comparable to F-35's
Now anyone can divide this sentence in two parts. The first one in green is a technical statement. Confirming that is is an Upgraded KLJ-7. WE know that an upgraded KLJ-7 is a KLJ-A and NOT and AESA!! AESA will be a separate radar not an upgrade of a mechanically scanned array radar!!

The second part in red is a figurative speech, a judgement, a ruling. Not a technical issue/statement. This is just a comparison being made and one can CLAIM anything. Also if the claims is true it still is that the "performance" is comparable!! Again not that it is an AESA. If that the capabilities can be similiar and if that is possible in real may be it is a Mechanical Radar with comparable performance? (as per the claim and just for debate/discussions sake ONLY) THAT still do not makes it an AESA. Unless there is something written in Chinese that was not translated and mentioned in the original post by our Chinese friend.

This is the simple point i am trying to make. I hope you understand.

Regards!

Just have a look at the image and try to find "有源相控阵". AESA = 有源相控阵 in Chinese. So it is clearly stated that the radar is an airborne AESA radar.

无源相控阵雷达 = PESA Radar
有源相控阵雷达 = AESA Radar
有源相控阵机载火控雷达 = AESA Airborne Fire-control Radar

So the radar in question is an AESA airborne fire-control radar, as can be seen in the heading of the product-introductory monitor screen- and is a 'technology upgrade and jump in generation' of the existing radar on the current batch of JF-17s in service while being comparable to the F-35's radar(as stated by the product introductory monitor screen)

It'll be interesting to see what power plant will be fitted in as the AESA radar consumes much more power than a mechanically scanning one.

It say KLJ7A is a AESA specially designed for JF17 with performance equals to radar of F35. Operational mode including:
  • Tracking and searching
  • Single/multiple targets tracking
  • Dogfight
  • Real beam mapping
  • Doppler beam sharpening
  • Synthetic aperture imaging
  • Identify and track moving ground targets
  • Sea targets searching and tracking
  • Meteorological mode
  • Missile guidance and multi targets attack mode
  • Merits
  1. long detection range
  2. High accuracy
  3. Multi operational modes
  4. Multi target processing ability

The upgrade mention by cirr does not mean its just an higher version of mechanical scan radar. I think he used the wrong word which causes your misunderstood. Its not an upgrade but a generation jump from mechanical scan to AESA.

Btw, just from looking at the photo since you claimed to be a consultant in PDF, you shall know its not a mechanical scan radar. Its fixed and no rotating mechanism.

that's such a blatant copy of our ELTA radar even the LRUs design and placement is exact i bet even the number of screws would be exact gotta say though with begrudging respect but you chinese are one heck of a plagiarists.

also the description is implying it is equal to the radar on F-35????? is that so????
