Islamabad—Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Thursday said that friendship between Pakistan and Turkey is time tested and have roots in history.
“Turkey has always been a friend in need and stood by Pakistan in difficult times” he expressed these views during a meeting with Ambassador of Turkey Sadik Babur Girgin.
The Speaker underlined the need for enhanced interaction between the parliamentarians of both the countries for further cementing the fraternal relations between the two countries.
Parliamentarians of the two sides could play a meaningful role in the region as “parliamentary diplomacy” could enable the real policy makers to understand each-others points of view better, he added.
Expressing his concern over the problems confronting Muslim Ummah, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that it was the responsibility of all the parliamentarians from Muslim countries to work in close cooperation.
Ambassador of Turkey Sadik Babur Girgin said that Pakistan and Turkey have unanimity of views on the political front and the cooperation between both the nations should be extended to all spheres of all mutual relations.
He said that the culture and values of people in Pakistan and Turkey have much commonalities and could be utilized for strengthening mutual relations and for the benefit of the people.
He assured the speaker that his country will do all possible for speeding up the pace of economic development and progress in Pakistan.

Lol, Turkey and Pakistan are friends. RCD, ECO, they are together. Turkey support pak on kashmir, an dPak support Turkey on cyprus. it is now over 6 decades of friendship.

Interesting. But, don't you think that the instances mentioned by you as above are more of mutual convergence of interests and have less to do with friendship?

Muslim soldiers also revolted from British colonist army and joined Ottomon army in first world war to fight on behalf of ottomans against enemies of Turks....

Our ancestors also campaigned for Ottoman Empire, held rallies against British government during first world war when UK was fighting against Turks...

Relations date back generations before the establishment of the two states, more precisely during the Turkish War of Independence when the Muslims of the northwestern British Raj sent financial aid to the declining Ottoman Empire which was followed by the formation of the Turkish Republic. As a result, Pakistan and Pakistanis have enjoyed a positive perception in Turkey and amongst Turks for many decades.

During 1919 and till early 1920s, after the end of the Great War, when Indians were fighting for Independence, Congress' Muslim leadership including Maulana Abul Kalam Azad issued fatwas asking Muslims of India to make the Hijrat and fight in the name of the Khilafat in Turkeye to re-establish Dar-ul-Islam and restore the Khilafat!

30,000 Indians (or 'Pakistanis') went to fight in Turkey in those days of no internet, no TV etc.

@PaklovesTurkiye

There!

This is recorded history. Go to any library and search for the Khilafat Andolan.

But don't you think that this seems to be an anti-thetical relationship? Tracing the roots of close relationship to Khilafat (which was in support of the Ottoman) and then using the same as a template for relations in a post-Ottoman Turkey, a different and opposite political system being in place now?

Does this anti-thesis not render it a rhetoric?

Are you trying to reconcile organized Religion with Logic and Rationality?

We need to move towards conceret developments...statements are not enough in the fast changing global geopolitics.

Pak must bring Turkey and China close to each other...as Turkey restoring its ties with Russia.

Turkey must be given an accelerated SCO membership and become a stakeholder of strability and peace in central asia. Here Pak-Turk can play a joint positive role.

Also the trade between Turk-Pak friends must be the strategic focus. Pak can learn a lot from Truks.

Military industrial cooperation is already taking shape so no worries there.

In the end without Turkeys participation into OBOR and eaurasain economic integeration...the strategic benefits will not be fully realised. Turkey is a pivotal state just like Pak.

Hopefully, Iran palys a constructive role and joins CPEC sooner than later...this will also connect Turkey wiht CPEC and turkish goods can reach west and south africa faster and cheaper.

Things need to move faster. Talks are not enough anymore.

Actions!!!!!

No. I am just trying to reconcile the role of Muslim League in Khilafat Movement and the subsequent position of Pakistan in Turko-Pak relationship. When @B@KH made his post at #3, that was my aim on questioning him.

Since you took the trouble to put the angle of Khilafat movement, my question came up, keeping in view that the Muslim League opposed the movement.

Who knows those Muslims were from Kerela. Just One question, do you treat all muslims of Indian subcontinents as Pakistanis. I was listening to a program in BBC hindi in which one Pakistani was giving his views about the pakistanis in U.S.A, and I remember one comment, that there are so many MUSLIMS in U.S in highter and important posts, to prove that Pakistanis are helding so many good, high positions in various sectors in U.S.A, but it keeps me thinking that those Muslims might be the Indian Muslim, then how they are marking them Pakistanis to all the muslims.

giving an example of Muslim unity is reported to have said in a Hadith:

“The Muslim Ummah is like one body. If the eye is in pain then the whole body is in pain and if the head is in pain then the whole body is in pain”

Currently we (Muslims) are far away from the teaching for Islam, but however Muslim feels the pain of his brother.
