After China warned India against deploying the BrahMos missile in Arunachal Pradesh, the army has made it clear that its decisions will not be influenced by Beijing. "Our threat perceptions and security concerns are our own, and how we address these by deploying assets on our territory should be no one else's concern," said top sources in the army to NDTV today.

The Chinese army in its mouthpiece yesterday said, "India deploying supersonic missiles on the border has exceeded its own needs for self-defense and poses a serious threat to China's Tibet and Yunnan provinces."
The BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile which can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft or land. It can carry warheads weighing up to 300kg, and strike targets on land and at sea. It has been in service with the army since 2007 and is currently being tested for use by the Air Force's Sukhoi-30 fighters.

The army is in the process of equipping a new regiment with the latest variant of the missile at a cost of Rs.4,300 crores. This Block III version being inducted by army along the Himalayas has advanced guidance systems, which enable the missile to perform very tight manoeuvres flying at 2.8 times the speed of sound. This allows the missile to strike hidden targets behind a mountain range with extreme precision.

The new regiment includes around 100 missiles, five launchers on heavy-duty trucks and accompanying hardware and software.

China claims parts of Arunachal Pradesh as its own and both sides have contesting claims on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which is the defacto border between the two countries. India's recent moves to strengthen its border have included building several new roads and high altitude airstrips to give its troops better control of the region.

Sources in the army point out that the deployment of the BrahMos (a missile co-developed with Russia) in Arunachal Pradesh should come as no surprise since India already uses several missile systems to defend its territory.

And here comes the warning..:lol:

But frankly,I wonder why they even bother.Aren't they doing the same thing, deploying sophisticated Ballistic missiles in Tibet plateau??

And Indian Government should give China a taste of relaity. We don't even have an Indo-China border to start with.Free Tibet.:big_boss:

So now India is expanding its arms to the other side of the country too. Previously most sophisticated were kept for Their western border only.
This shows increase in power, wealth and the International changing scenarios.

Indian Army just slapped China...

Of course we do. We are 3rd largest standing army. Only India can give befitting reply to China in the region. Russia have its own interests with China. Americans are far far away.

China should be foolish to confront India.

So so much pass China? It's just 100 missile on the ground. What you should be worrying about is when newly renovated Advanced Landing ground is equipped with Su30 mki. And these ALG will have new visitors called "Sukoi 30 KICK ***" Which comes with air launched version of bramos under its belly.

Not so bad init? Oh wait..

(Su30MKI)KICK *** EDITION.... :D:smitten::partay:

At the speed of 2 Mach, from altitude of above 17000 it fires Bramos towards your control centers, radars etc. Just to put icing on Ur butt one should know the range of bramos is around 290-300 as claimed by India.

But the range is increased when a missile dropped of high altitudes. And Air launched bramose first dropped from the fighter jet and then it starts approaching it's target. No one knows when bramose will be fired up. Only God knows. In this case Indian and Russian scientific community alone. :sniper::sniper::sniper:

Now u can be pissed off:agree::lol:

It is a standard operating procedure.

Due to our weak economy in the 90s, our eastern border modernization was delayed by 2 decades.

Honestly; I don't see what Chinese have to feel threatened about.

A well manned and weaponized border is actually an assurance that transgression from either side will not take place and there is peace.

This will simply result in an assurance both ways (since China already has armed their side of the border well enough to defend themselves) and hence will make sure no unwarranted moves upset ties.

Not a good idea man. Keep borders low key, by moving these missiles close to Chinese mainland it is an escalation!! remember Cuban missiles crises???

Bad comparison. These are just 300km range cruise missiles. Not some ICBMs that can hit the capitol within a few minutes.

Nevertheless its an escalation !! range of hardware is not the issue !!
